CHAPTER 9
Zoey’s eyes widened. Dex? The same Dex she’d had a blind date with? The name was uncommon enough, and the town was small enough, that it had to be the same one. She looked back at Max, and then it dawned on her. Now she could see the resemblance between Dex and him. No wonder he’d looked familiar! But why hadn’t Dex revealed his relationship to Dr. Dexin when Zoey had mentioned she was a doctor?
Yet that wasn’t what was most important now. A man had been hurt, and she was a doctor first of all, no matter what had happened between them. It was only right she made sure he was okay.
“Give me one moment,” Max said to Zoey as he headed toward the door. “I’ll be right back.”
“I’ll come with you,” Zoey replied.
“Okay.” He hurried out after Becca, and Zoey followed suit.
