PROLOGUE 2

Noah’s POV I was never supposed to be Alpha. I was the bastard son who just happened to be born first and worse, I was 23 and my wolf was yet to come in. In the eyes of the pack I was a freak. But the moon goddess had other plans for me. My father’s death was sudden and unexpected. It sent shockwaves across werewolf packs far and wide as he was notorious for being cunning and ruthless. The elders in the pack started scrambling to appoint a new Alpha. I was the obvious choice seeing as I was his first son but because I didn’t have my wolf or a mate I was not exactly an appealing candidate. My father had another son, Damian, with his Luna and that was who they were going to make the Alpha of SilverClaw pack but the moon goddess had other things to say. On the night of Damian’s ordinance as Alpha, the full moon turned blood red and immediately the oldest witch went into a trance as the moon goddess possessed her. “Do not deviate from the plans of your goddess or it shall end in tears!” And with that she fell to the ground and died. The pack exploded into an uproar. The goddess had sent a sign and it’d be foolish not to be warned. “ But he’s a bastard freak, he doesn’t even have his wolf yet.” Damian yelled to the sky in anger. “If only father kept it in pants and didn’t mate with a horny lycan I should have been Alpha. I’m his legitimate son!” I didn’t have my wolf yet but I was stronger, faster and wiser than Damian, but because I had lycan blood in me, the pack could never bring themselves to accept me as their Alpha. In a fit of rage I ran to my car and drove out of the woods. I kept driving till I got to the human town. Before long I walked into a nightclub I recently discovered, looking around until my eyes finally met…hers. Porcelain, that was all I could think about looking at her, she had pure white skin that glistened under the club lights. I was drawn to her and before I could stop myself I was walking towards the bar where she sat. Before I could open my mouth she asked me if I wanted to dance, I didn’t know how to dance but I knew I wanted an opportunity to hold her so I said yes. She smelled like alcohol and honey. We went back to the bar to sit and drink. I could tell she had been crying, her eyes were puffy and red. She asked me what my name was but as I was about to respond, the music changed and she squealed with joy. “Let’s dance” and with that she was up pulling me to the dance floor. She felt good in my arms and her scent, oh goddess, I was drunk in it. We were both drunk swaying with the beats and I felt like the happiest man in the world until she leaned in and whispered in my ear “I want you to f**k me. Hard” I pulled her to the back of the club and found a room. It was sloppy and blurry but It was the best night of my life. The next morning I woke up with a splitting headache and the first thing I noticed was that she was gone. My heart dropped to my stomach as I looked around for any trace of her but couldn’t find any. We hadn’t exchanged names or contacts and In that moment I was filled immensely with regret. I walked to my car and drove back into the woods towards pack land feeling like I had just lost half of me. Why did the moon goddess hate me? My life had been filled with sadness from the moment I was born, why couldn’t she let me have this one thing that finally made me happy? I packed my car when I got to pack land. Still filled with rage I started running, tears streaming down my face. All of a sudden sharp immense pain ran through me. My bones were breaking. This was it, I was shifting. I finally got my wolf. I yelled out in pain as the change took its course and slowly my yell turned into a howl shaking the whole forest. “Hello Noah, I’m syre. It’s about time we f*****g met” my wolf spoke to me for the first time. “Took you long enough.” I sent back. I could feel myself smiling. Finally, I wasn’t a freak anymore. Maybe now I’d be accepted by the pack. I wanted to see what my wolf looked like so I ran to the shallow pond at the edge of the woods. What I saw shocked me. I was big, way bigger than your average wolf. My fur was pure silver and it shone like there was some sort of light underneath it. “Now, let’s go take what’s rightfully yours.” Syre smirked as we ran back to the packhouse where everyone was gathered. “Is that, Noah? My husbands bastard?” The Luna asked in shock taking in my wolf’s majestic form. As I walked closer pack members began falling to the floor, showing their necks as a sign of devotion even the elders that had once ganged up against me. All except Damian and Luna Arya. Syre let out a terrifying growl. It rolled through the packhouse like an earthquake, It wasn’t a wolf’s sound. It was Lycan. That was all it took. Luna Arya’s knees hit the floor forcefully. Her eyes never left mine. Then Damian. He dropped to one knee, head bowed, but his fists were closed in anger. Then Elder Merek, the oldest elder in the pack, rose from the floor, “Wolves of SilverClaw Pack,” he said, “The goddess knows best. Here is your Alpha.”
