The men in Carlys life had always had the power to damage her, if not physically, which was often the case, then emotionally, which was always worse. Even the good men in her life had managed to leave her emotionally wreaked. And not one of her infatuations or affairs or one-night lovers, not even her husband, had the power to save her.
