Chapter Three

Aria His presence filled in the room before I realized he had walked in Sebastian Thorne. Dressed in all black and confidence strutted out of him. He looked like the devil himself with his dark hair slicked to the back. One moment I was pacing in the corner of the room, looking for loopholes to get myself out of here and the next minute, he was here, impossibly close. “You can’t run from me” He said with a low growl “Did you think I wouldn’t notice your hesitation at the door? I notice everything aria” I held my breath as I replied back to him “I wasn’t running” He stepped forward closing the space between us until my back hit the wall. His eyes looking directly at mine. “You never were good at lying” His tone was mockingly soft but I heard the steel behind them. “I didn’t ask to be here” I snapped with every anger down my spine “I didn’t ask you to do what you did or ask to see it” His lips curled with a cruel smile “But you did and now you can’t undo it, you can’t undo me” Heat flooded my face as both fear and fury fought for their place inside me “I’m not afraid of you” i said, lifting my chin. He laughed, even his laugh was dangerous “Then prove it” Every ounce in me wanted to hit him at that point but I knew I would only be in more trouble than I was in at that moment if I did so. “Why haven’t you killed me off? Why am I still breathing? What do you want with me?” I asked, my voice cracking. His eyes darkened “Because death is too easy..” His gaze swept through me slowly “And you’re far too intriguing” A shiver ran down my spine. I hated how my body reacted to him, hated how I wanted not just his gaze on me but something more. He lifted his hand, tilting my chin and forcing me to meet his eyes. “You’ll learn what it is to live with a monster “ Just then, he stepped back and left the room. My body sagged down to the floor trembling in fury, fear and something else more dangerous. Because as much as I hated him. I can’t deny the desire that lurked through. ********************************************************* Sebastian The table was filled with voices, ones that I didn’t pay attention to. Smoke from cigarettes filled the air as my men argued about everything ranging from shipment to traitors. I usually was involved with this talks but today I wasn’t interested. All I had in my thoughts was her. Her defiance, her fury, her fire. The venom in her voice when she stood up to me even though she was afraid. Most women would have cried, broken down in front of me as they plead for mercy but not aria. “Boss” Marco’s voice snapped me off my thoughts “We’ve got a problem. Salvatore’s family sis moving against us. They’re attacking silently and I feel someone is feeding them information from inside” The name Salvatore pulled me back to reality. My oldest rival who was as ruthless as I was. The kind of man who never showed mercy to his adversaries and didn’t strike until he was certain his blade would hurt deep. I leaned back as I replied “So he’s finally showing his face. And you think he has a mole from one of my men?” “He wants to replace you sir, and yes, I think so, what do you think I should do” Marco replied back. Marco was one of my trusted men. I saved his life many years ago and since then he had being loyal and dedicated his life to serving me. If there was a man I trusted, it was Marco. “I want you to find out who the rat is, I want him dragged to me alive, as for Salvatore, no one can replace me, no one can take what is MINE” The word ‘Mine’ lingered in the air longer than I had intended it to and I realize I wasn’t just talking about my territory as my thoughts had wandered once again to someone it shouldn’t have. “And Marco-“ I called him again “Keep aria under watch, if Salvatore learns about her, he’ll use her against me” Marco nodded and left the room. I sat with my thoughts needing space, I poured myself a drink and my hand strayed to a tarnished silver amulet on my neck. It was one of the last things given to me by mother before she died. Damon being my brother was four when she died and I never let him feel the pain of losing his mother. But I was much older when she died and I felt every pain. I clutched the amulet tightly as the memory of her warmth balanced the darkness inside of me. Aria reminded me of my mother as she had the fire my mother also had, standing up to my father, A Thorne every chance she gets. Aria was a liability, a witness i should have killed off long ago. I snapped the amulet shut. I couldn’t afford a moment of softness. Not now, not with Salvatore out to get me. Still as silence filled the room, one thought haunted me greater than a rival’s threat. Aria wasn’t afraid of me and that alone could destroy me greater than Salvatore could.
