Too much Love

Janine POV I woke up early to review everything Mommy wants me to work on. I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I wanted to at least look through them. Maybe it’s time for me to try handling her business—and finally stand on my own. But what about the company Grandpa left for us… and for Luc? Am I ready to face that? Can I even do it? A knock sounded on my bedroom door, and I immediately opened it. “Ma’am, Sir forgot his documents downstairs,” one of the house helpers said shyly. “His secretary called and asked that all of these be sent to him.” She looked like she wanted to say something else, so I waited. “But, Ma’am… there’s no one available to deliver them right now. Everyone is busy.” “I’ll take them,” I said right away. I took the files so they wouldn’t worry. If Luc found out at the office, he might lose his temper again. I arrived at Luc’s company building. It was massive—and beautiful. I approached the reception desk, where smiling receptionists immediately greeted me. “Good morning, Ma’am. Welcome to Samaniego Corp. How may we assist you?” “Good morning. I’m here to deliver the files the President needs for his two p.m. meeting.” She nodded and made a call. She told me to leave the files with them and said they would send them upstairs. I left my name and contact number in case there were any issues. I was about to grab coffee at the café next door when my phone rang. “Ma’am, we’re very sorry,” the receptionist said. “There’s no one available to bring the files upstairs. The meeting was moved earlier.” “Alright. I’m coming back.” I returned immediately. Those documents were important—and I didn’t want Luc to get into trouble. “We’re really sorry, Ma’am. The President’s office is on the thirtieth floor,” the receptionist said as she handed the files back to me. “It’s fine,” I replied. I quickly stepped into the elevator. When I arrived, I was greeted by his assistant’s desk. She was beautiful—and clearly someone who belonged in this world. “Good morning. Are those all the documents Mr. President needs?” I nodded and handed them to her. “Thank you.” She called Luc and explained why I was there. “Mr. President says you may come in—and that you should hand the files to him personally.” My heart started pounding. “By the way, Ma’am… are you one of Mr. President’s housemaids?” I didn’t know what to say, so I simply nodded. “Oh, I see,” she joked. “Honestly, your bag looks more expensive than mine.” I instinctively held my Hermès bag. She didn’t know—every helper in our house owns expensive things. I gave them those as gifts. When I entered the office, Luc was seated in his swivel chair, his back facing me, staring out the window. “Is that b***h still here?” he asked coldly. “You should treat her properly so she’ll finally disappear from my life.” He turned his chair around. And saw me. “Good morning,” I said softly. “These are the files you need.” I placed them on his desk. His eyes burned with anger. “I’ll go now,” I said, my voice trembling. “Wait.” I stopped. “Since you’re already here, I’ll give you the documents for your company as well.” He pointed at the sofa. I sat down. “I no longer want to manage your company. I have no responsibility for it—especially not for you.” I nodded, my head lowered. “I want you gone from my life.” Tears fell from my eyes. “Look around my office,” he said. “Do you see it?” I nodded. “This has been my home ever since you came into my mansion. I have peace here—because you’re not around. And now, you’re here again.” He threw a white envelope at me. “Open it.” My hands shook as I did. A wedding invitation. He walked toward me and knelt in front of me. “Leave my life,” he begged. “I’m begging you.” “Luc…” I cried. “Please give me a chance. I’m your wife.” He stood up. “Leave.” And I did. I even heard him order the entire office to be disinfected—and the sofa I sat on to be replaced. I love you so much, Luc. I can’t lose you—not even on paper. That night, I chose to review the documents in the living room. I had food delivered so I wouldn’t have to join dinner. Sophia sat on the opposite sofa. “Oh, you’re still here.” I stayed silent. “You’re really pathetic,” she said before walking away. After a while, I finished. . I took a bath and lay down. When I checked my phone, I saw several missed calls from an unregistered number. I answered. “Janine… this is Lucas…” Minutes later, I was at the hospital. My mother-in-law stood there—angry and in tears. “Have you no shame at all?!” she shouted. She slapped me. “My son tried to kill himself because of you!” I rushed to Luc—oxygen mask on, unconscious. “He tried to drown himself,” Diego explained. “We’re begging you—please have mercy on yourself,” Nilo said. I broke down sobbing. And for the first time… I no longer knew if I still had the strength to fight.
