Charles arrived home late at night, but his father was already home, so he retired to his bedroom on the third floor to sleep. Sensing that his parents might have already had dinner and gone to bed, he entered the elevator and went up to the third floor. The presidential villa was dead silent. Charles walked into his sitting room and remembered when he had returned home the previous week and had seen Nancy sleeping peacefully on his couch.
