Chapter 5 - Charles' Decision

1262 Words
"Mom..." Charles approached his mother and hugged her. She smiled at him and said, "Charles, you haven't answered my question yet. I was waiting for you to return home so we can have dinner together as a family." "Good evening, Mom," Charles greeted, hugging her shoulder as they walked toward the dining room. He replied, "She's the one, Mom, and she's very pretty too." "Hmm," First Lady Kira smiled and remained silent as she watched Charles pull out a dinner chair for her. She sat down elegantly on the first chair and continued watching her handsome son, while Charles sat in the chair beside her at the dining table. Charles added, "Mom, she's the one, and she's very cute. Where did you get her photo from? I really like her." "Mmm," First Lady Kira smiled as the maids stepped out of the kitchen and served dinner for her and Charles on the dining table. Since President Nolan Alejandro was away at a presidential meeting, they served the delicious meals. First Lady Kira smiled and replied, "Charles, your father informed some of his cabinet members that he was looking for a bride for you. They suggested daughters from their families for you to choose from." "Hmm, thanks, Mom. I really like Nancy, but..." Charles's words trailed off as he remembered how Nancy had run away from him. His mother asked, "But what, Charles?" First Lady Kira frowned as she saw her son acting nervously. She waited for the maids to finish serving and leave before asking again, "Charles, do you want us to cancel the wedding? It's in two days, and you can't embarrass your father and me in front of all our prominent guests." "I know, Mom, but the truth is that Nancy ran away from me when I went to welcome her at her family home," Charles said, shaking his head in embarrassment and covering his face with his palms as he recalled the incident. He smiled at the memory of her hips swaying seductively. Charles didn't realize his mother was staring at him angrily, not finding it funny at all. She snapped, "What? Charles, how dare Nancy run away from you? We need to cancel the wedding right now. Didn't her parents inform her that she was going to marry you, and the wedding is tomorrow?" "No, Mother, you cannot call off the wedding," Charles refuted, leaving his mother's jaw dropped as she stared at her son sadly, who had fallen in love with this crazy woman. "Don't tell me you still want to go ahead and marry a woman who doesn't love you, Charles. I cannot allow that," First Lady Kira added. "I know, Mother, but you and Father have always wanted me to marry, and now I can't change my choice. I understand Nancy's fears; she's marrying the president's son, so she must be scared," Charles said, smiling sadly. His mother shook her head and replied, "No, Charles. She should be happy with you and glad that you've chosen her. Any other woman would be excited and shower you with love. How dare Nancy run away from you, and you took it lightly? Where's my phone? I need to get her arrested and deal with her this minute before throwing her behind bars." "No, Mother!" Charles exclaimed, startling her. "You cannot do that. If I don't marry Nancy, then I won't marry any other woman." "What?" Kira's jaw dropped again as she stared at her son in shock. She shook her head and said, "No, Charles. This isn't happening. I'll find another bride for you, okay? There are many other pretty women out there, some even fairer than Nancy." "No, Mother. I want Nancy Marlon. I really do. I want to feel her love and warmth, and I believe she'll love me with time." "Just give Nancy some time, Mom. Know that I'm truly in love now," Charles smiled, surprising his mother further. Her jaw dropped, and she gulped as Charles said, "Let's have our dinner, Mom, before it gets cold." "Okay, my son," First Lady Kira subtly blamed herself for choosing Nancy's photo. She had seen many pretty young women's photos, as every family wanted their daughter to marry her son, despite the online ridicule. She had personally selected Nancy's photo among others, thinking Charles wouldn't have time to go through them all. Now, she wished she hadn't, since this young woman had rejected her son. *If it wasn't that Charles loves women and is rumored to be a playboy, what would give her the right to reject my son?* First Lady Kira sighed heavily in her mind. Charles asked, "Mom, is everything alright?" "Yes, Charles," First Lady Kira replied, thinking to instruct her personal assistant to monitor Nancy. She needed to do a background check to see if Nancy had a secret lover, explaining why she rejected Charles. They continued eating their dinner silently in the dining hall. After dinner, Charles stood up from his chair and prepared to retire upstairs to his bedroom. He said to his mother, "Good night, Mom." "Yeah, good night, Charles," First Lady Kira replied as Charles leaned closer, pecked her on the left cheek, and walked toward the living room stairs, climbing them to his bedroom. Charles used the stairs to clear his mind, thinking about Nancy and why she had run away from him. He stepped into his sitting room first and then walked to his bedroom. Once inside, he picked up Nancy's photo from the headboard. Charles kissed Nancy's photo on her pink lips, which he admired most, and said, "So pink and lovely. I cannot wait to have you as my wife and kiss you every day on these beautiful lips." Charles smiled and kissed the photo again, his whole body yearning for her. He asked himself, "But why did she run away from me? Am I ugly now?" Charles frowned and walked to his bedroom mirror to examine his face. He had full, short black hair, neatly shaped front hair, and short beard, as he was a tall, handsome black man. Charles murmured, "Maybe she doesn't like guys with beards. Hmm... But she's so beautiful, and I can't reject her now. Maybe she has a boyfriend? I'm sure she must have one." Charles frowned, thinking about Nancy having a boyfriend and that being the reason she ran away. He cussed, "Nonsense! Is her boyfriend finer than me? I can't reject her now, and Mother shouldn't dare hurt her. What am I even ranting about?" Charles walked back to his bed, picked up his telephone, and called Stevo Brights, his head security man, who was trusted in managing his affairs. Charles needed Stevo to monitor Nancy's activities, including her phone calls, text messages, and if she had a boyfriend. Charles said coldly, "Hello, Stevo." Stevo froze and replied, "Hello, boss. Good evening." Stevo was in the security house inside the villa. Charles said, "I want you to hire a trained personnel to hack and monitor my chosen bride 24/7. I'll forward her details shortly. Find out what she does, who she calls, and speaks with daily. Is that understood?" "Yes, boss." "Anything else you need me to do, boss?" Stevo asked. "No, that's all," Charles replied, and the call ended. Charles sighed and stared at Nancy's photo in his hand. He said, "I cannot wait to have you as my bride, and in just two days, you'll be on my bed, moaning to my deep thrusts. I just hope she doesn't run away from me before then."
