Charles entered the elevator and didn't say a word to Nancy as he went downstairs to the ground floor. His mother rushed up to meet him as soon as he stepped out of the elevator.
"Charles, we need to cancel the marriage," his mother said, wearing a long yellow native gown, as she is a traditional woman who didn't want the young lady to ruin her only son's life.
"No, Mom. I cannot let Nancy go," Charles replied, pausing to meet his mother's gaze.
"You have to, Charles, as I made a terrible mistake by choosing her photo. There are still many other young ladies out there who truly want you. Just let Nancy go, Charles."
