YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

CHAPTER 4

NANONOOD si Nico sa sala habang ang dalaga ay di mapakali sa kalalakad, tuloy ay mayamaya nito hinaharangan ang pinapanood niyang programa sa TV.

“Sunny, could you please stop moving, I can’t understand what I am watching.”

Huminto ang dalaga at humarap sa kaniya. “Nico, do you think I can really do this? Maraming ideya akong gustong gawin pero dahil nga sa dami, nag-o-overlapping na,” sabi nito pagkatapos ay umupo ito sa tabi niya, bahagyang nagkadikit ang kanilang mga braso. Napalunok nang malalim ang binata. Umusog ito palayo nang bahagya pero di yata napansin ng dalaga ang discomfort niya. Gayunpaman ay pinilit nitong magsalita.

“Sunny, just focus and make yourself clear in a one theme. Mag-focus ka sa isa.”

“Aha!” bigla itong tumayo kaya ang katawan ng dalaga ay bumalandra sa kaniya. Sunny is wearing a yellow pajama and a fitted sando with same color as her pajamas. Nang tumayo ito at itinaas ang kamay sa ere, bigla ring tumaas ang sando nito kaya nakita nito ang kutis nito at ang perpektong kurba ng pangangatawan, oh God! She is such a tease! “I think we can hit two birds in one stone, what if a runaway here in the Philipines, then we will cover that backstage moment for a commercial glimpse?”

Sunny is still talking but my eyes can’t get off to her skin. Why do I need to see that, ha? And why do I need to feel this? I am not attracted to my friend, ain’t I? I can’t be attracted to her, for goddamn sake! She is like a sister to me. Baka kulang lang ako sa pakikisalamuha sa mga babae.

“Whatever it is Sunny, you can present it with the team on Friday by ten in the morning. You still have three days, Sunny, don’t stress yourself too much!” naiirita niyang wika sa dalaga. Hindi naman niya iyon sinasadya, he was distracted by her body near to him.

Napabuntong-hininga ang dalaga. Bumaba ito sa sofa kaya naman nakahinga-hinga na ang binata. He can’t tolerate this feeling he has for this girl. Hindi siya manyak, or even if he is, di ang tipong kababata niya pa ang pag-iisipan niya ng ganoon kaya hindi niya alam bakit niya ito nararamdaman ngayon sa dalaga.

“Mauuna na ako sa kwarto ko, amo. Kailangan kong pag-isipan nang mabuti ito.”

Tumango siya rito. Habang palayo ang dalaga ay lalo naman niya itong hinahanap, her scent is still loathing in his nose. Damn it, I really need someone I can set my eyes off. Hindi iyong sa kababata ko pa ito nararamdaman.

Nakasapo ang kamay ng binata sa kaniyang noo, puyat ito kagabi dahil galing ito sa bar pero kailangan niyang pumasok sa opisina niya ngayon dahil nga Friday and it is the day where she could see his friend’s idea about the commercial. Ilang araw rin kasi siyang di nakapasok dahil he went clubbing and travelling in beaches with his friend. Ilang araw niya tuloy hindi nasilayan ang kababata. Did she lose her weight? Pumayat ito.

Tumayo siya at tumikhim. Nakuha niya ang atensyon ng lahat ng kaniyang mga empleyado. They are all here to discuss their plan, their budget that can be accomodated to this project and even the event department but in all, the head is Sunny because the advertising department is the soul of my company.

“Sunny, the floor is yours.”

“Okay, Sir.” Hmmm. She sounds so confident, did my Sunny grow a little because of this project? Let’s see what she got.

Inayos ni Sunny ang projector at tumayo ang dalaga sa harapan. She looked so confident and ready. That’s the Sunny she knew way back in college.

“This is Ashton Berl, the face of Denim Of All Time Collection,” panimula ng dalaga habang ibinalandra ang mukha ng sinasabing binata sa screen. Sunny is smiling while looking at Ashton’s photo who is also wearing a denim, she is not the only person who is smiling but all the girls in the room. “Ang cute niya, no?” umugong ang tawanan sa kwartong iyon. Maging ang mga lalaki ay nakitawa rin. He is the only person who is not happy seeing that Ashton’s picture! Sunny said cute to that guy! He never said that to me! Damn it!

“I expected your reaction, guys! Let’s make Ashton as our model in flyers and in magazines preview. Malakas ang bentahe nito sa mga girls. Denim is an everyday staple but it’s so complicated. Let’s have a runaway, get a model to present her collection, the final collection of denim will be wear by Ashton and one female model for the final walk.” Huminto ito at nilipat ang slide. She can’t stop staring Sunny, on how she talk with confidence. Mukhang hindi mo ito makikitaan na lumaki itong simple lang. She speaks very classy and authoritative. She really likes this side of Sunny. She looks so sexy. Damn sexy for a fact!

“For commercial part, let’s use some glimpse from the backstage scene and preparation, but first, the life of a model wearing a denim, how she uses it everyday and prhotograph it to her i********:, that denim is not for style only but very wearable. Then until she become the model of the runaway wearing different denims, that’s why we need the runaway. It’s like runaway for the elites and commercial for those who wants to have it badly.”

Rachelle raised her hand and ask, “Ashton is a high profile person, how can you persuade that man to model his own collection? He have never model his own work before,” nakakunot-noong tanong ni Rachelle.

Napahinto si Sunny, tumikhim bago muling nagsalita. “I will ask someone to do it.”

“Paano kung di siya pumayag kapag kinausap niyo na?” segunda ni Reena.

Napayuko ang dalaga, the confidence she had before, wala na ngayon.

“At bakit di siya papayag kapag kinausap ko siya? He will cooperate because I told him to.”

Napatingin ang lahat sa binata. Maging ang dalaga ay nakatitig sa kaniya. “Sunny told me this project before she present this to you. Ako ang nag-volunteer na kakausap kaya walang problema sa ideyang iyon.”

Biglang nagliwanag ang mukha ng dalaga. Ngumiti itong may pagmamalaki sa mga kasama. Lahat nga lang sa room na iyon ay tahimik.

“Ashton will be here on Monday, gustuhin ko man na sunduin siya sa airport since ako ang nagpapapunta sa kaniya rito ay di kaya ng schedule ko, I have to attend another meeting for the land expansion,” wika ng binata sa lahat. “Miss Sison and Rudy will go para abangan ang binata at ihatid sa hotel na pina-reserve ko.”

“Copy, sir,” sagot ng dalawa.

Tumango siya sa mga ito bago hinarap ang lahat. “Help Sunny in all possible things she needed for this project. Meeting adjourned, thank you for the good work, everyone.”

Iniwan na niya ang kaniyang mga empleyado. His head is still aching dahil sa dami ng ininom niya kagabi. Pumasok siya sa opisina niya, mayamaya ay pumasok rin ang dalaga.

“My gosh, amo! Thank you for saving me there!”

Nagulat siya sa ginawa ng dalaga, niyakap siya nito at ninakawan ng halik sa pisngi!
