NONE OF THE BUSES BROKE down again. Neither did Brendan and Katie, but Brendan suspected that was only a matter of time. What they had going now wasn’t quite a detente so much as it was an extended game of public edging. They hadn’t truly solved anything between them, but Katie seemed willing to be present and figure it out, which was enough for now. They were in New York City, with only two performances left.
