BRENDAN HAD WANTED to go out with Katie and enjoy some quality time away from the ice with her. A good dinner. Maybe a movie. Things normal people did. Breathing space from their jobs would do them good. But Katie wasn’t speaking to him at the moment, which he was self-aware enough to consider fair. He hadn’t meant to be a d**k about farms in general or cows in particular, but Katie was often sensitive about where she’d come from, and he had been thoughtless.
