Mate

Legacy spent the next week at home resting. She didn’t want to go out this badly beaten up and bruised. Legacy rolls over hiding her eyes from the sun that shined brightly through her floral curtains. Luna snuggled against her also not wanting her to get up. It had been a week since she had come face to face with Hunter in the alley. “I don’t understand Luna. Why did he stop me? It was his trap. He’s seen my face now he’s sure to recognize me.” She swallowed hard. The cat just laid silently against her. “He could have easily tracked me down if he wanted to. He could have vampires kill me in my own home” Legacy trailed off in thought. Why hadn’t he came after her? Legacy knew no matter what the reason he had let her go he was still just as deadly. She got up and began to get dressed. She was in need of some groceries and hygiene products so it was definitely time to leave the house. A week earlier: “You’re seriously telling me ONE human, a female human at that, attacked you and got away?” A very pissed off Damien says frustrated “That’s what I said isn’t it?” Hunter says straight-faced Thelson and Damien exchange looks of concern. Hunter was no doubt stronger than both of them put together. Something wasn’t quite adding up and they were looking for answers. “Look” Hunter broke the silence, “She caught me completely off guard. I was in the front side of the warehouse and never heard her come in. By the time I realized she was there she was swinging a stake at me. I won’t have you sitting here questioning me! ” Damien up and left the room slamming the door behind him. Thelson spoke up with concern “Sir I just think Damien is worried. If such a small human could harm you what else is she capable of?” He looked to the scar down Hunters arm where he had been grazed. “I was off guard and she got lucky. I can guarantee you that next time it will not happen again.” He said motioning for Thelson to exit. After Thelson left the room Hunter let out a sigh. He was already thinking of her. Her dark black hair in the moonlight and her big blue eyes amazed him. How could one human be so beautiful? Why was he so amazed by her? So many questions ran through his head but one word caught his attention. “Mates” He pushed the thought out of his mind. Hunter did not believe in such thing. Even though he didn’t look it, he was thousands of years old. About 4000 to be exact. He was a descendent of the first vampire herself. Hunter has had children in the past but most of them were either dead literally or just dead to him. The Redwoods have made a habit of mating with humans. A thought that disgusted him. He it was obvious what had to happen, he had to find her and he had to kill her. A week later: Legacy stopped by two grocery stores and a fast food drive thru before driving back home. She was satisfied with herself and was hoping to return to work tomorrow. She was lost in thought the entire ride home half in worry the other half eager to return to her normal life. When she arrived home to her apartment building she took a large handful of groceries up with her. She knew better than to hold that many bags at once but it was a habit she had trying to make as few trips as possible when unloading. The bags felt like weights in her arms as she made her was up the apartment. She shuffled to find her key and let herself in. Once inside the apartment she closed the door behind her with her knee turning to go to the kitchen to put away the bags when suddenly she heard a familiar voice behind her. “Hello human.” It was him. Legacy dropped the bags at her feet frozen in place, glass shattering she knew she was dead.
