Seek her out

Thelson knocked softly on the door to Hunters office. “Come in Thelson.” “How’d you know it was me?” Thelson stepped in quietly. Hunter shrugged “What do you need?” “Is this a good idea? I know you are following the council and their orders but- what about you and your mate?” “I’ll change her soon. Before the war starts. She can lead by my side.” Hunter didn’t look up from his paperwork. “You think a hunter is going to just be okay with that?” Hunter completely froze and his expression dropped. “I don’t know what you are talking about Thel-“ “I’m not stupid. You got beat up the night of the trap and that’s also the night you met her. Not to mention the reason you’ve dropped the case of finding her. Hunter you’re not good at hiding things from me.” Thelson slumped down in a chair. “I’m not going to tell anyone. I wouldn’t do that to you but I don’t think this will end well for anyone.” Both men sat in silence for a long time. Hunter dwelled on the future. Thelson was right, she would never willingly change. What did he expect? Legacy was a hunter by nature and she was very strong willed. She would die before she gave up and submitted herself to him. Would he have a chance with his mate after all? Would his mate be killed before he had the chance to protect her? What if the council found out that he had a human mate he was protecting and planning to change in secret? So many what ifs made his mind burn. Thelson observed his behavior. Hunter was obviously considering his words and finally thinking things through. “Please leave Thelson. I need time to clear my head.” On that Thelson got up silently and left. Thelson left the mansion. Once on the interstate he dialed a random number “Hello? What do you want?” A unfamiliar female voice answers “Emily- don’t hang up it’s important.” Thelson pleaded “You have two minutes.” On the other end of the phone was a tall beautiful bleach blonde woman. About twenty years old with delicate blue eyes. She listened carefully to what Thelson had to say. Her face was pale and she looked as if the world was falling around her. A long moment of silence followed “Emily?” “You’re sure?” Emily finally asked “I’m certain. Her name is Legacy Seales.” Another moment of silence “Okay. Thank you Thelson.” “Goodbye Emily.” Emily hung up running downstairs to a large living room with five young women sitting around laughing. “Em what’s wrong? You look like you seen a ghost.” The tall woman with bright purple hair looked concerned. “Emily?” Another woman stood up confused “Hunter has declared war on the witches. In three days time we will be hunted and killed in the streets.” Everyone in the room gasped and went into a panic. “A war? Against the witches? Do they doubt us that much?” “Of course it would have to end in a war.” “I have plenty of plague spells I would be happy to unleash of those smelly wolves!” “It may not have to be this way!” Emily finally shouted “Hunter has found his mate and she is human. He’s willing to go to great lengths to protect her. Maybe she can convince him to stop the war.” The tall woman with purple hair raised her eyebrows in disbelief. “Where have you gotten this information? This is impossible. Someone is fooling you.” “I have an inside source. Hunter announced this earlier tonight. This is no joke Meredith. We may be able to fight the Night World but how many humans will be caught in the crosshairs? Hunter has no regard for humanity.” “I understand. Let’s seek out his mate then.”
