Hunter had been hiding in the ground level of an abandoned warehouse when he saw her walking around, he was ready to attack. Before he could move a soft breeze blew and he immediately recognized her scent. It was her! He was sure of it. The girl from the club was here and she was the hunter. How did he not know?!
Her black curls still sat perfectly, even from a distance he could see her blue eyes. She moved like a cat chasing her prey. However she was walking directly into a trap. Hunter knew he had to stop her.
“Shh!” Hunter said pressing his hand against Legacy’s masked face. He pointed in the direction of the vampires. “That’s a trap. You need to go, now.”
She saw her life flash before her eyes. Hunter pressed her against the wall with such force she felt like she was going to pass out from the pain in her back. Hunter moved his hand away pulling off her mask.
“I’ll kill you.” Legacy whispered
“Ha! It doesn’t look like you are in the position to make threats now kid.”
She knew he was right. Why was he warning her? This is his trap, why the sudden change?
“W-why are you doing this?”
Hunter sat puzzled staring at the human. She was right why was he doing this? He should be tearing her apart right now but instead he is protecting her. He reached out to touch her cheek but before he could she jumped kicking him back into the opposite wall. As soon as he realized what happened she lunged at him with a wooden stake. Hunter twisted causing her to lose her balance and miss his chest only grazing him on the arm.
“You’re going to regret that.” Hunter stood up fuming
Before Legacy could attack again Hunter grabbed her by the throat.
Skin to skin contact.
This time was different. The world around them seemed to disappear. It was like watching her life in a movie. Her mom and dad.... It was her tenth birthday.
“Legacy! Honey come here we have a surprise baby!” Legacy’s mom called
Legacy ran down into the living area quickly, her dad sweeping her up into a hug.
“Happy Birthday Scooter!” He told her
Legacy’s mom handed her a small box. Legacy opened it to find three tickets.
“Really momma?! We get to go to the new movies?” Legacy said with excitement.
They were poor, even small things were huge to Legacy and this was starting to be the best birthday she had ever had. The images changed to that night.
Legacy held her fathers hand as they left the theater. Her mother laughed and everything was perfect. Her father turned down an alley as a shortcut to get home. After that the images became unbearable. She saw her fathers lifeless eyes staring at her. There was blood everywhere. Looking down at her own body. She had been injured, then everything went black.
She was back in the present and Hunter had let go of her neck. Before she could gather her thoughts he leaned close to her face and whispered. “Leave now or I’ll make sure you end up like your parents.”
Legacy knew there was no point fighting. She quickly ran back down the alley and didn’t stop until she was safe in her car. Once she was driving she started to notice just how much pain she was in. She could barely move her neck or breath for that matter. She drove straight home and went to the mirror. Her neck was bruised similar to her wrist. She had almost been choked to death and hadn’t even noticed. Whatever she felt towards the vampire had to go because she was sure that the next time she saw him it was kill or be killed. A tear fell down her cheek as she stared at herself in the mirror. She had tried to forget that night for so long. She striped out of her suit exposing her body. On her stomach she wore a scar stretching from side to side. It resembled a surgical scar but much more gruesome. Legacy turned off the lights and went to bed.
