Truth in lies

Legacy walked into the bedroom picking up a remote from in the floor. Luna sat on the bed waving her tail.

“You’re going to be the death of me you know that?”

The cat purred and rubbed against her.

Hunter shoved Thelson into the wall back at the mansion.

“How dare you follow me!”

“How dare YOU lie to me!” Thelson shouted back angry

Hunter dropped his hold on Thelson.

“What now, Thelson? You gonna go run to the council? Damien? The elders?”

“What NO! Why couldn’t you trust me with this? I don’t agree with it that’s for sure but I’m not going to hand you over without letting you explain first.” Thelson said sincere

“She’s my mate. I found out the night Damien set up the trap for the hunter.” Hunter hesitated not wanting to expose her.

Thelson sat down in an old fashioned reclining chair.

“So will you take her as your mate?” He asked almost laughing.

“We both know I can’t do that. I also just can’t let her go either. You know that as well as I do.”

Only then is Thelsons scar on his neck noticeable. The thought of his lost mate almost brought tears to his eyes. Thelson had a vampire mate about three-hundred years ago. She was killed by a group of hunters shortly after she had met Thelson. He thought of her everyday as his lost love. It was true, if she was Hunters mate keeping away from her would be almost impossible, however bringing her into his life would be a death sentence. After a long minute of gathering his thoughts Thelson finally spoke.

“I won’t report you. As your friend I understand what you are going though. What I’m about to say may upset you but please know I mean the best.” He met Hunters eyes. “You have to change her.”

His words were like nails on a chalkboard.

“Ch-Change her?”

Oh God she was a hunter! She would never let him change her! She would die before she ever let him change her. His eyes went dark looking at Thelson

“And if I don’t?”

“Then I will.” Thelson said with a shrug.

In an instant Hunter threw him against a bookshelf. The entire bookshelf collapsed on top of Thelson

“You won’t f*****g touch her!” Hunter screamed angrily. Thelson shrugged again dusting himself off.

“It’s not up for debate. I won’t report you and your mate but I’m not letting you get her killed in front of you either. You know the council would do horrible things to both of you if they found out. Not to mention everyone involved.”

He knew that Thelson was right. No matter how much she objected Legacy had to be turned so he could have a life with her.

Hunter hung his head in shame. Next time he saw his mate, he had to start the change.
