Elena knocked softly on the door. It opened after a few seconds. Sofia stood there with a towel wrapped around her hair. Her eyes widened when she saw Elena’s face. “Elena?” she said. “You look awful. What happened?” Elena didn’t answer. She just stepped inside and sat on the couch. Sofia closed the door and joined her, worried. “Elena, talk to me. What’s going on?” Elena’s voice broke. “He’s dead.” Sofia blinked. “Who?” “Marcus,” Elena said. Her eyes were red, her hands shaking. “They killed him, Sofia. Lorenzo killed him.” Sofia gasped. “What? The private investigator?” Elena nodded weakly. “Lucian got Marcus’s phone at his gate. There was a letter from Lorenzo. He said his little angel might be the one to get him in trouble. That means me, Sofia. Me.” Sofia covered her mouth.
