The parking lot was nearly empty when Elena left Liam standing outside. A cool breeze stirred, rustling the small trees by the walkway. Liam didn’t move. His hands stayed buried in his pockets, his eyes fixed on the hospital doors as though staring hard enough would bring her back out. His jaw ticked. His lips pressed together. “She’ll regret this,” he muttered under his breath, voice sharp. “She thinks she can walk away from me?
