The moment the heat between them began to cool, the spell broke. Sylvie didn't linger, she didn't offer a gentle touch or a soft word. Instead, she put her hands on Kael’s sweat-slicked chest and shoved him back with a sudden, icy strength. Kael stumbled, his legs weak and shaking, his eyes still clouded with the fog of his own release. He looked down at her, breathing hard. “What was that for?” he asked her, confusion etched on his face. Sylvie didn't even bother giving him an answer. She reached down with trembling fingers and yanked her skirts back into place, smoothing the fabric over her thighs as if she were trying to erase the very memory of his touch. The tears were still drying on her cheeks, but her eyes were no longer soft with desperation. They were as cold as the night air
