Chapter Twenty Six

1024 Words

Caden remained standing in the center of his room, his chest heaving as the door clicked shut behind Sylvie. The silence she left behind was heavy, but it wasn't peaceful. It felt like the walls were closing in on him. He looked down at his hands. They were shaking. He wasn't sure if it was from the poison still buzzing in his blood or the sheer rage of what had just happened. She was lying to him. He knew it. He could smell the sour scent of fear hidden under her expensive lavender perfume but still, he had no proof and he knew Sylvie, her hatred for Rhea ran just as deep as his but she was very strategic about it. She knew no one in this pack would let Rhea go once they knew who she was and so, Sylvie had found a poor grieving boy to use to fulfill her goal. It was sickening to him.
