The next morning, the sun was just starting to peek through the curtains and that was what woke me up. I reached out, but the bed beside me was empty. Caden was gone. He had stayed with me all night. After everything happened with Lucas, we just lay there in the dark. We talked for hours about things I'd never told anyone. Having him there, feeling his arms wrapped around me, was the only thing that kept the fear away. He held me so tight that I finally felt safe enough to sleep.
