Chapter 13Dark Shadows
Francesco has the task of leading me outside the Brotherhood's headquarters. He leads me through long corridors made only of large grey stones and dimly lit. It looks like an old castle or, more likely, an ancient monastery.
What strikes me most about Francesco are his manners, that even if they seem kind, hide a note of aversion towards me. I think I'm really getting on his nerves.
"For obvious security reasons, we will have to go through the basement, where I will have to blindfold you. Richard will be waiting for us there: he's one of the door masters. He'll take her home by car and then wait for events to unfold."
This sounds like a death sentence.
"Will I be able to take a shower, or should I get a cane for the blind?"
I try irony, maybe he shows me he can
