Now that I have shifted, all I can think about is leaving and starting over somewhere. Em does not want to, she wants to stay. I don’t want to. Yes, my pack is all here now. They all are settling in. Homes have been built for them. They have started jobs in the pack. Life seems good. My “Father” the Alpha is still out there right now. I know he will come for me. I don’t know why, but I just know it. Adam has become extremely overprotective of me since they escaped a few weeks ago. It’s becoming too much. There are even more guards than before. Here I am standing on my balcony and all I want to do is run free in the woods. As they call to me. I have been learning that as an Elf, nature calls to me.

When I am out there, the dirt under my feet or paws feels like second shoes. I love the way it feels under me. The Grass is soft as velvet to me, like the softest of silk. The harsh bark of the tree’s feels like a soft blanket under my palms. The smell of the tress is the best, most calming sent in the world.

“I have to disagree…” Em huff. But she is right, I have to say it’s Adam. his scent overwhelms me most of the time. It does things to me that I am not sure how to handle. “Its called getting turned on..” Em chuckled. She has been different lately. Not as talkative, less sarcastic. And over all she is pushing even harder for me to accept Adam. Huffing, I turn and make my way down to his office. I need to get out and run. Em needs one, just as much as I do. Knocking on his door, I hear a come in.

He has a small smile when he notices it on me. “Hello Love, what can I do for you?”

“I am going to go for a run. I just wanted to let you know so you don’t send the whole pack after me again.”

“Ok just make sure the guards are with you.” Why we are on territory? I am not even going too far.

“No. I… am..” Pausing “Going by myself.” I growl at him. Ever since my shift, my speech has gotten better. I don’t stutter as much, and I feel more confident knowing more about myself.

“No, Rose, you want to take guard.”

“No, I am a lot stronger now. I train with Nicca, and your dad every day in fighting, and your Mom and aunts in my Magic. I don’t NEED NOR WANT guards.” I growl at him. I know that I am still scared of my own shadow. But him demanding is enough.

“Don't start Rose, you will take guards,” He growls, causing me flinch. Turning around, I storm out as he yells for me to come back. Running out of the pack house, I turn straight to the southeast. Running as fast as my human legs can take me. I make it just outside of pack territory. Stopping to catch my breath, I hear a twig snap. A woman comes in front of me.

I think I have seen her before.

“What are you doing out here?” She asks me.

“Hiding from my mate. You.”

“Running from my old pack. Why are you Hiding from your mate? Is he not a good one?” Tilting her head.

“No, he is, but I am finally free and all he wants to do is keep me locked up like some doll. I don’t want that. I need to be free.” I say with a sad smile. “I am not even sure I want a mate, Much less an Alpha.”

She slowly rubs her left shoulder. “I would give anything for one more day with my mate. Anything just to see him smile, tell me how much he loves me.” A tear falls down her cheek. “Sorry, I should not tell others what to do…. But I will tell you this, that no matter what, you should at least give him a chance. Mates are the most important thing to us. They are a gift from the Goddess herself. They will love you and take care of you like no other. Dont let go for as long as you can.”

“I dont know exactly what it’s like for a mate. Yes, I have this pull to him, but more of my Wolf. Me, I dont know.”

She turns and smiles. “You and your wolf are one and separate, so you will not always be on the same page.”

Huffing, “What if I am not good enough? My Mate is the Great Adam Shade. He needs a strong, full-blooded wolf. Not some half-breed.”

“Your a hybrid. Wait, did you say Adam Shade as Crown Prince Adam Shade, the Rightful King of our kind? This is his territory. s**t…..” She looks like she is going to panic.

“He is not scary. He will probably let you stay. You did find me and all.”

Sitting down, she looks at me. “I am Marabella Nightingale. Everyone calls me Bella, but you Can call me Ella, and did I not sell you some sexy things a few weeks back,” she winks. Causing me to blush. “You should give him a chance I never met. Him, my brother did. He says Adam is an amazing Alpha. And As for being a Hybrid you do know that he is one to right?” She looks at me with a raised eyebrow.

“I am Rose. Its….. Different.. My other half does not have mates. Ever. Apparently, there have only ever been two to get mates. Me and my mother.” Pausing, I look at her. The confusion on her face says it all. “I am half Elf, since they don’t belong to Selene apparently they are don’t have mates. I am not sure how my mother had one. I get how I do, my Wolf. So part of me already loves him, the other half just wants to be free to travel the wold, find the rest of my people, I know they are out there I can feel them like they are pulling me to find them. If I stay here. I won’t want to leave and find them.” I say with a sad smile.

“Then you let your mate help you find them. He is the “King” you know.” She says, using quotations around the king. “I lost my mate a week ago, and just buried him and our unborn Son today….” She pauses. “So, like I said, I would do anything to have them back with me, anything. Just because half of you want to be free, does not mean you can’t find your freedom with your mate Rose. at least give him the chance to show you that.” Smiling at her, I nod my head.

“Thank you, come on, I should get back and I don’t want you left out here all night long. You are too nice to be out here, even if you are a rogue.” I chuckle.

“Do I stink? Please say I don’t smell like those disgusting things?” She sniffs her self.

I shake my head no. She really doesn’t. she smells’s of nature. Standing up and leading her back. I come to a stop when I see my guard’s just over the border. The largest I think his name is Max, he is with Joe. they stomp over to me and growl at Ella. “Luna. Rogue. The Alpha wants you back at the pack house. He is not happy that you ran off. Rosey.” Joe huffs. “Your parents are still out there. What if something happed to you?” He huff, always the over protective brother.

“I am fine, Joe, and Be nice to Ella. She is my friend.” I huff, walking away. In no time at all, I have made it back to the pack house. Stomping my way up to his office. I know I am acting like a child. If he is going to keep treating me like one, I might as well beehive like one. Pushing open his door. I motion for the others to stay outside. Walking in, I see him pacing back and forth. I don’t know what he is saying as he mumbles. “Adam,” he spends around at the sound of my voice.

He is in front of me in the blink of an eye. “Oh thank the Gods, Rosey I am sorry, I know, I am over barring and controlling. I just want you safe, seeing you like I did the first time or the day you fought stella breaks my heart. I know that you can protect yourself. Well, are getting better at it. Your shield is coming along nicely and so is your Ice and water. But you're my mate. I was made to protect you.” He rambles out. “I will never not want to do that. I already love you.” Huffing, I pull out of his hold.

Walking to the window, I look out over the front of the pack lands facing south. “Lets give this a try.” I pause, thinking about how to say this. “At my pace, Adam, no s… se… s*x or marking until I say so. I want to date like they do in those romantic movies. Dinner, dancing Movies you name it.” I turn back to him. “If you… want to?” I give him a small smile.

“In that case, will you go out with me tonight? I know our last one got canceled thanks to Stella and your shift.” Blushing, I nod. “In that case, I will pick you up at seven.” He blushes right back. I nod, turning to leave. Until Em reminds me of Ella.

“I meet a fiend on my run.” He growls. “She needs a place to stay. Her name is Ella.”

“Is she a Pack member?” I shake my head no. “A Rogue?” again I shake my head no. “Then..”

“Shejustlosthermateandpupandwantstostartover.” I rush out so fast that it is one long word. He just looks at me, confused. “She just lost her mate and pup and wants to start over.” I say again, only slower so he can understand. “He name is Marabella Nightingale. She said you know her brother.” He nods

“Yes, I do.”

“Please let her stay and not tell him. She just wants to stat over.” Huffing, he nods.

“Fine, love, she can stay as long as she wants. Even join is she wants to.” I nod before I know what is happening. Reaching up, I kiss him. I stand there, shocked. Did I just kiss him? Backing up fast, I turn and run out of there. Seeing Ella at the door. I blush. “He said you can stay if you want.” She just chuckles at my blush. I think I just found my first real friend.
