Chapter 2. What More Can Happen.

1669 Words
Rose One Month ago. I am sitting on my bed, if you want to call it that. In truth, it is a mattress, not even a good one. It’s on the floor. One sheet with more rip’s that I have sowed too many times to count, one blanket with patches from old clothing that no longer fits or is too ripped for me to use. And one very flat pillow. My “room” does have a washroom, with a small shower. A toilet, and a sink. No hot water. I am only allowed once a month and only if another Alpha is coming. “To be presentable,” As my father says, I am not allowed to call him that. It's only Alpha, or Sir. Mother is the worst. I am only allowed to call her Luna, period. Nothing else. Luna is responsible for the most of my torment. Father only hits me if Luna decides that it needs to be worse. I hear my door open as I am in the middle of my homework. “Your Alpha wants you in his Office.” My Mother says with disgust in her voice. I move when she grabs me by the hair. “Did. I Stutter.. Move your pathetic ass now.” She throws me through the door. Two maids hid in the hall, not daring to look at me the last time someone tried to help me. Father killed them. A tear falls as I think about nana Mary. She was the pack cook, she treated me well, but when Father saw her giving me food one day, after he said I was to be punished by no food for a week. I was ten at the time. He ripped her head off in front of the whole pack. Since then, no one has helped me. I don't blame them; they are just as much victims as I am. When I get to the Alpha’s office. My mother pushes me in, causing me to stumble. “For goddes’s sake, you stupid girl, get your lazy ass up now,” my father growls out using his Alpha voice, making me have no choice but to move towards him. “We have been invited to attend a Ball at the Vargulf pack. All Un-mated wolves must be in attendance and even if I don't like it you are my only child and also must be present. You need to find a dress among those in the donation box you have one month. Do you understand?” I nod my head. “Y..yes A..Alpha” “Stop stuttering, you pathic wolf. Now get out of my office and my sight.” I turn and practically run out of the room and down to the laundry room for the pack. That is where the Donation Boxes are. I will have to see what I can find. If I can't find anything, I can always make something. I have managed to hide some fabric. Let's see what I can find. After thirty minutes of still not finding anything that will work for the ball that I must go to. I head to my room, that is in the back of the laundry room. Yes, my bedroom is in the back of the basement. I move to the hidden door I found in the back of my closet if you call it that. Once I am in, I move to my stack of fabric and thread I have. “What do you think?” I say to Ember, as I move my hands over the few colors and types I have. My hand stops on the emerald green. I found this one last week. In the trash at the local fabric and dress shop. So I took it. I got it all that way or threw the donation box. Same with the Fabric and dress shop. Every so often I work for the owner. She is a little old lady. She taught me how to sew. So I do some tailoring for her and others that use her shop. The Alpha and Luna do not know. Just like with the Clothing it ends up in the Trash or the donation box with a note asking for it to be done. With a little money, I get to keep the leftover fabric. I settle on the emerald green; I find a gold thread I have for a dress I did for Luna last year that will go well. No, she is unaware I designed her dress. Miss Cara, the shop owner, never told her. I sit down at my makeshift table. I grab a piece of paper to draw my design. Flash Forward night before the Ball I stand there and look at myself in the mirror. Tonight is the day we leave for the Vargulfr pack. Yes, at night it was a thirteen hour trip. So we will leave Sikum, Oregon, late at night and arrive around one p.m. We are going to a small town somewhere in Montana. That is the only thing I know. Sikum, our small town, is just that it was started as a logging community in the late 1800s in the last twenty years. It is becoming a ghost town. More so since the post office closed a few years back. The tavern restaurant went not long ago. And the humans are moving out. At least up here at the Pack near the Maria C Jackson State Park, we take care of our own. Well, somewhat. Our Alpha and Luna are selfish. They spend what little they still make from our farm. And use it. I wish I could have a mate. If I had one, then they would have no choice but to hand the pack over to us. I would request to have the pack moved to a better location. More and more pack members are “leaving”. I don't think they are alive. I hope they are, but I doubt it. If they were to get out, most would speak about the treatment we receive. I am not the only one who has been abused. Most of the pack has. Even our Beta, He is only a couple of years older than me, he is also going with us. And thank the Goddess, we will be allowed in the same car. Of course, for the journey, it is best that the Alpha couple ride alone and that their Beta ride with the Next Alpha. Yes, I am the Next Alpha. Even if they hate it. Someday when they can’t care for the pack. I am about to take over. Not that I can, being so weak, another pack would take us over in seconds. Maybe that would be for the best? I make my way up the stairs to meet them. When I come out into the Hall Luna rolls her eye’s “About time now move it '' She grabs me by the Hair. As I move out the door with my backpack and my dress in the bag. “Is it good enough? It better not show anything? If you so much as even look like the tramp you are, I will make sure you can not walk for a month. Do I make Myself Clear?” My Father growls at me “Y..yes S,,sir, I..tt show’s n….nothing, its v...very l..oong, no s...slit, and I….covered my n...neck and a...arms c…..completely” I stutter out. “Stop your stupid stuttering, I would back hand you but your face can’t look worse than it already does now. Can it?” My mother says with a wicked smile. “Sorry… Luna” Flash Forward Six and half hours later I am sitting in the car with the Beta Joe, Gamma Max, and our top Warrior, Kyle. Why do you ask? Mainly because Luna does not like riding with anyone other than the Alpha and her guard. Joe is the oldest at twenty-one. His dad passed him his title when he was eighteen and left the pack in the dead of the night. Joe says he stayed to protect me. They all have. Then it’s Max, also twenty One he took over at sixteen when rouges attacked. And killed his Father causing his mother to pass, leaving him to raise his little sister, Megan, she is only seven. She is staying with one of the maid’s. Lastly, Kyle is only seventeen, but he is strong. When he was able to take his dad down at sixteen, his father stepped down. He still acts as Luna's personal bodyguard, so he is in the car with them. “It’s good to see you Rosey,” I hear the sadness in Joe’s voice. Like I said, the pack loves me, they always have. “Th...Than...Thank you J...joe.” I say slowly. I am not allowed to speak anywhere. Even if they don't agree, I will never put my pack at risk for my parent’s punishments and they know that. So does the pack. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look over at Kyle. “I missed you Rosey. we wish they would let us talk to you. When you shifted and did not find your mate, they cut you off even more.” A tear slip’s from his eye. I just smile. “Maybe you will find your mate at the ball, I heard the Alpha hosting is hot, you never know you might be his, then he can take over and we can move out of that hellhole” Max chuckles, he wants his mate so bad, but in such a small pack, and an Alpha who won't let anyone leave. His options have been limited. I hope to find his mate soon. “I Have a good feeling Rosey, something good is going to happen for us. Just wait.” Ember says’s with a yip. I don't respond. Nothing good ever happens to me.
