After speaking to my wolf they escorted us to the rooms that we would be staying in for the time that we are here. Entering my room I was absolutely stunned. It was amazing! There was a king size bed in the middle of the room with the softest looking linen over it, with extremely high ceilings. I was extremely happy when I realized that I didn't have to share a bathroom with my brothers.
Soon someone came up and gave us all a tour of the castle, it was basically a giant maze. I could barely remember where my own bedroom was. Though I figured that I'd get used to it over time. When the tour was over they walked us to the great hall, where the Ancient Wolves were. Legend has it that they were the first ever Wolves to walk the Earth and that they have amazing powers bestowed upon them by the Moon Goddess herself.
Walking up to large dark brown doors, I noticed all of the carvings in them. It looked to be of a group of wolves, howling to the moon. The doors creaked open and we all were ushered in. The room was large, and the ceilings were high up with a large podium in the middle where they all sat. All of them were dressed in fancy robes but none of them looked a day over thirty. Luckily they all smiled brightly, which helped to calm my nerves down slightly.
They began to converse with my brothers while I stood to the side, keeping my head slightly bowed. I couldn't focus on them any longer as I suddenly heard a ringing in my ears.
"It's time to shift. We needed to be in their presence. And my name is Moona." She spoke with authority, but before I could question anything, it started. Dropping to my knees I screamed my lungs out as it felt like my flesh was on fire. I could hear each and every bone popping and adjusting to wolf form. I could feel as each strand of fur pushed its way through my skin. My teeth subtracted and were replaced with large, razor sharp ones. It felt like years before it all stopped, before I felt like I could actually breath. Opening my eyes, I looked up at everyone, they all stared at me. I stood up once I noticed that there was a mirror in the room. Slowly I got up and made my way over to it, once I saw myself I was extremely happy. I was a white wolf. Technically it was rare for someone to have a white fur coat, but it didn't technically mean anything.
"You look absolutely amazing Sky!" Cole yelled happily, all of them wearing large bright smiles. Looking over to the Ancients, it seemed as if they were waiting for something. Just as I was about to turn away, more pain hit me. Howling loudly, it felt like someone began dragging a knife down my body in all different ways. What’s happening!?
When the pain finally subsided, I was exhausted, I could barely stand. Now when I turned to face my family and the Ancients, my family looked shocked while the Ancients looked happy and excited. Turning around slowly I saw the meaning of it.
I thought when I faced the mirror I'd still have my white fur, but I didn't. When I looked over my body all I saw on the white fur coat were blue swirls going everywhere. Never before had I seen anything like this. And lastly, the thing that chilled me to the core, was that my eyes, were completely white.
That was the last thing before my body gave out from exhaustion.
Chapter 7
Slowly my eyes fluttered open before quickly shutting closed due to the searing pain coursing through my head. I groaned loudly, slowly sitting up as I clutched my head. Looking next to me I saw that there was a glass of water, along with a small pill and a small note from my mother.
'This will help with the headache. Love mom xoxo.'
I smiled, taking the small pill with the water. Looking around I saw that I was in my new room. I at first couldn't remember how I had gotten here but then remembered seeing my wolf form. I was still in shock, I mean yeah you don't see many white wolves but a white wolf with blue, glowing swirls? That was unheard of. As I continued to question everything that had just recently happened, I had failed to notice my brothers creeping into my room.
"Hey Sky, how you feeling?" Will asked with concern as he came over to me, sitting next to me on the bed and feeling my head for a fever. Don't know why he did since I wasn't sick but oh well.
"Bit of a headache, but not too bad. How long have I been out?" I questioned, looking up at Will with a small smile, trying not to groan from another wave of pain hitting my head.
"Three days actually. The Ancients...they said that this was normal for someone like you- "
"Wait, what do you mean by that?" I was nervous now. Something was gone and with the looks on their faces I knew they knew but they weren't gonna tell me. Cole wasn't looking me in the eye and Liam was trying to preoccupy himself with anything else; Will was the only one actually talking to me. They all knew that I was growing nervous now, it was obvious as I could feel my hands start to shake.
"Sky calm down, the Ancients will explain everything but first you really need a shower. You really stink." Will joked, rubbing my back softly to try and calm me down. I appreciated him trying, though it was really difficult without jumping to conclusions in my head about what the Ancients were going to tell me.
"I vote you take two, you smell horrible little sis." Liam teased, finally speaking to me. I rolled my eyes at him, sticking my tongue out at him. I chuckled even though it hurt and watched as they left the room to give me time to get ready.
About twenty minutes later I was finally clean. Walking over to my suitcase I saw that it was empty. I walked over to the cupboard and saw that all my clothes were in there. Probably my mom's doing. I smiled and quickly pulled out a simple T-shirt, along with a pair of denim jeans. I got dressed quickly, brushed my hair and teeth and then I was finally done. As I was about to open the door, I heard my brother's voices approaching, Will and Liam yelling at each other. When I opened the door, I saw Cole leaning against the wall while Liam was yelling at Will, stating how chocolate was supreme to strawberry. Why did we have to be related to these two idiots? Cole looked over at me, rolling his eyes before shoving them both to walk, that didn't even stop the argument.
As we walked through the castle, or maze as I see it, we finally stood by the big wooden doors once again. I was shaking, that was obvious but I could also feel my heart wanting to beat itself out of my chest with how scared of entering this room I was. Moona tried to console me, telling me that there was nothing wrong with us and that everything would be fine. It helped slightly but I could still feel my hand shaking slightly. I jumped slightly when the doors began to open. Gulping I walked in with my brothers and parents who had just joined us, clutching my mom's hand tightly. Though what I was not expecting when we entered was to see the Ancients stand then bow.
"Our Queen." They spoke with respect. I was so confused before it finally clicked, the Moon Goddess. Oh no, the most powerful being was here. She ruled over all supernatural beings, with her Ancients as her right-hand men and woman, along with smaller rulers of each kind of supernatural beings. I searched around the room, not seeing anyone who could possibly be her. Eventually I gave up on trying to search for while the Ancients still remained in their position; I asked where she was and what I heard next made me want to faint all over again.
"Skylar Maine, you are the new, soon to be, Moon Goddess. The one to claim victory in the war that is yet come." Are these Ancients on drugs or something?! I was no Moon Goddess! And me being the i***t I was, I said that first thing that came to mind.
"Okay you guys got me; I'm on a hidden camera show, aren't I?" I stated laughing even though there was panic in my voice. I turned to family, waiting for them to say that this was a joke but they merely stood there. I turned back to the Ancients seeing them doing the same.
"This is no joke Skylar. Only the Moon Goddess possesses those blue swirls on her fur coat, proudly stating her incredible powers that courses through her veins." One of the Ancients stated with a proud smile as he gazed down at her. What the hell was going on? This can't be true. He then proceeded to explain a prophecy I was in, along with briefly explaining the powers that I possessed. So, I did what any normal person would do, I ran. Granted I ran to my room but still, I think they got the point. I was scared! I couldn't be the next Moon Goddess! I didn't even know there could be another one! I wasn't worthy, I didn't even have a mate! Lying there on my bed all I could do was sob. Everything that had happened this week was just too much, I can't handle it all.
"Sky?" I heard the voice that belonged to Cole but I knew that the other two were also with him.
"Go away!" I whimpered into my pillow, not wanting to see anyone. I felt guilty for my words as my brothers and I were always there for each other, regardless of the situation.
"No, now leave me alone!" I snapped at them, I instantly regretted doing that to them the only time I ever snap at them is when they deserve it but this wasn't one of those times.
"Sky if you don't let us in, we will start singing and we all know that, that would be awful." Will stated from behind Cole, peaking his head over Coles shoulder. I shuddered at the thought of the last time they tried to sing to me to cheer me up, it ended up making me cry even more with how bad it was. I sighed, inviting them in. They stumbled in as Liam had shoved the other two aside before he rushed over to me and hugged me tightly. I whimpered before I began to cry again.
"I'm scared guys." I whispered softly, feeling the bed dip next to me and at the foot of the bed. They continued to console me for a while, telling me how they were gonna be here for me through everything. I believed them. Soon enough we began talking about other stuff and I was thankful that they were getting my mind off all of the drama. Though it had eventually turned serious when they asked about Kyle once again so I finally explain. Shock soon turned into anger. They eventually started saying how they were gonna drop the title of his Beta's, which I instantly hit them over the heads for.
"Yeah what he did was crap, but you guys have worked too hard for this. You've come too far and you all were made for this position. Don't drop it because of him being a shitty mate to me. Do this for me, please?" They eventually agreed, along with still threatening Kyle when they returned. I smiled at them all and we finally stayed on lighter topics. We were all relaxing before a messenger came in, stating that the Ancients wanted to see me again if I was up to it. I chewed on my lip, wanting to say but Will encouraged me to do it, saying how they would be there for me like they promised. I agreed and we left my room, heading back to the hall once again. Walking in the Ancients bowed once again, greeting me. I definitely was not use to the whole bowing thing, it felt weird.
