A lot of crazy things had happened within a very short amount of time.
Within just days of meeting my fated, I'd found my companion.
In between those two life-altering events, I'd learned that my fated is a Puritan, that the ghost currently haunting her was demanding that she intervene with an incredibly well-connected murderer's agenda, and, for the first time in my entire life, I had a close encounter with a faerie who, for some unknown reason, chose to save my young companions life.
A f*****g faerie.
So, maybe it shouldn't have shocked me when Gigi shut my bedroom door and looked up at me like some kind of dessert. Maybe, I began to suspect, I'd set those expectations by bringing her into my bedroom, talking about watching movies.
