Derek and I had fun keeping our relationship a secret from my family and the rest of the witch community. He couldn’t come around my house anymore and I was never allowed at his anyway, so all our meet-ups had to be at all of Lafayette’s shady places. We planned dates without agreeing on their venues and because my aunties and other relatives owned shops and businesses around town, we couldn’t even take walks together during the day. We hung out mostly during the night--and I mean late into the night. I was very surprised I was even allowed by mom to keep such late nights but I guessed she left me to my own devices because she didn’t want me to be very depressed. Either that or she just didn’t notice. I couldn’t care less anyway.
