Chapter 25C onnie wanted to spend the Memorial Day weekend at Rita’s, but Vince couldn’t wait for this party at Richard and Claire’s new place, a townhouse on the Upper East Side. He circles the neighborhood five times then cuts off a cab to nab a parking spot. “Vince!” “What? Did you want to drive around all night?” It’s so hot and humid she feels limp by the time they walk the three blocks to the front door. Vincent whistles at their new digs. “Far cry.” After punching the doorbell, he steps into the foyer. Richard, looking flushed and damp, comes down the stairs, pauses on the landing. “I’d like to thank my beloved wife, Claire, for shielding me from the corridors of power and influence so I could work on my craft.
