The Waning Moon Of Pain

Chapter Eight: (Continued)

After her well needed bath, she steps out, happy to see no one else waiting in the room for her. She goes to her bag grabbing a pair of comfortable black sweats and a baggy shirt. She plans to stay up in her room for the day and go over everything that happened.

Once she finishes getting dressed, her phone starts to ring on the side table. Grabbing it, she reads the caller ID saying Big Brother Alpha. She smiles, answering the call and bringing it to her ear.

"Hey Big Brother." Happy to hear from him

"Hello Little Luna. You sound much better. Dad said you have been doing well. How are you liking the pack?" Freki asks her in a happy tone to speak with his sister.

Her brother and Darius were actually the ones that came up with that little nickname. Only Freki is the one allowed to still call her that, plus she can't tell her Alpha what to do, even if he's her brother.

"When did you speak to Dad? I'm liking the place so far, it is a lot to take in." She nibbles on her lower lip, nervous about what her dad told her brother, taking a seat on her bed.

Her big brother is very protective of her and if he finds out she has a second chance mate and it being Alpha Ulric, he's going to flip. Which she is hoping he doesn't know because he wouldn't have called her, but showed up right away to drag her back.

"A week ago. He seemed pleased with how much you're improving and I am happy you are little sister. I wish I was calling you on better terms, but I couldn't get a hold of dad, he probably left his phone somewhere like usual."

Diana feels an uneasy feeling twist in her stomach, " Is everything okay?"

" Everything is okay now, but I just wanted to warn you both that we had a rogue attack last night. No one got hurt, but it looks like they are trying to come at us again, like every year."

She stands straight up gripping the phone, " What!?" She growls feeling her wolf coming to the surface.

"Easy Diana! Everyone is okay I promise. We handled it."

She takes in a breath to calm her raging emotions. The wolf that took her mate away from her and hurt her didn't die that day. He escaped and didn't return. Hearing they have returned, she has never felt such determination in a long time. Even Rin is fully connected with her own emotions right now, being on the same page.

"Sorry...thank you for telling me big brother. Be safe, I need to go. I'll pass it on to dad." She says quickly and then ends the call knowing she shouldn't hang up on her alpha like that, but she needs to collect her thoughts.

Sitting back down, she turns to Rin. It felt strange feeling her again like this,

'Rin? Is this what you wanted all this time? If we get revenge, will you forgive me?' she asks hopefully.

'It's a start. I want that wolf's head.' she growls responding to her.

Diana couldn't help smiling wide hearing Rin speak to her. She nods gripping her hands,

'Then that's what we will do Rin. You and me, we will get that wolf and make him pay for what he did.'

Finally she has a goal and is getting started to recover things between her and her wolf. Going to her bag, she changes into jeans, putting on a bra. Then starts to pack her things, she is leaving back to her pack today.

Once packed, she grabs her bag leaving the room. She looks back at it for a second. It might be best if she never returned here. Ulric has been great and so has Freya, but she won't get in between what they have. Walking to her dad's room, she knocks on it but he doesn't answer meaning he must be downstairs.

'Dad where are you?' mind linking him.

'Eating breakfast with the others. Are you hungry, I can bring you food.'

'No, I need to talk with you. Can you meet me at the front door?'

'Sure princess' he says, a bit concerned.

Heading down the stairs to the front door, she sets her bags down and waits for her father. He comes out of the dinning area where everyone is enjoying themselves. Concern in his eyes seeing her bags at her feet,

"Diana what is going on?"

"Dad, I need to go back to our pack. Big brother just called me and told me they had a rogue attack last night. Everyone is okay, but I need to go back. This is my chance. "

His eyes widen, he steps over to her grabbing her shoulders, " What are you saying Diana? Your chance for what? You are just starting to get better. Why do you need to go back? "

" Dad… he is still alive. The one that took Darius away from me. This is something Rin and I wish. I am going to hunt that disgusting excuse of a wolf down and make him pay for what he did. Rin is with me on this, she spoke to me. I get this wolf, she will start forgiving me." She pleads to him, looking into his eyes.

" Absolutely not! That is highly dangerous! No, I don't care if this is Rin's wish, find another way. You are not going anywhere, you are staying right here. What about Ulric? Are you just going to leave him?" Her father growls pissed, getting possessive.

Diana eyes soften, sighing, looking down at the ground,

"I am...I am going to reject Ulric before I go..." She says softly.

Ulric couldn't help notice Jack quickly leaving the table and the room. He wonders if it has to do with Diana. Freya mentioned she snapped at her after he left, but she wasn't upset about it, just concerned why she didn't want her to see her body from how she clung to her clothes. After a few good minutes passed, he couldn't take it anymore and had to see if Diana was okay.

Freya gives him a kiss knowing as he stands and leaves the room stepping out into the main entryway where Diana and her father stood, hearing those heartbreaking words leave her lips.

"What!?" Ulric growls pissed through the Mansion.

Diana looks up at him like deer in headlights. Before she could react, he appeared in front of her and slammed her back against the door, gripping her arms painfully.

"How could you say that!? After everything I have been doing for you? Is it because of what happened this morning? I said I was sorry, I didn't know!" He snaps at her, his wolf panicking, not wanting to lose her.

Tears stings her eyes looking up into those beautiful blue eyes of his. His grip hurt, but she ignored it, carefully reaching up to rest a hand on his face. Seeing him and his wolf panicking.

"I know, I don't blame you or Freya and I really appreciate everything you have done for me Ulric, but this isn't right. You belong with Freya and just Freya. You have done a lot for me, but I have nothing to give you in return. Freya gives you everything that I cannot, I am worthless to you. It will be better this way and don't worry about me, I will be fine. Rin is finally speaking to me and I know what she wants, what we both want." She softly says to him, her heart is breaking seeing him like this as tears run down her cheeks.

Ulric felt like he couldn't breath, gripping her tighter. "What are you talking about? What do you mean you are worthless to me, that Freya gives me everything you cannot? You can give much more than you think Diana, I'm happy Rin is speaking to you, but don't make this choice so soon."

" You don't understand, I am nothing, I have nothing to give you Ulric! Please just stop this! This is my choice! I am releasing you from my problems, mine! Not yours!" She yells at him, tears still streaming down her face.

Others from the dining room have spilled out into the large entryway by now watching this between their Alpha and this strange woman that only a few knew. Freya grips her hands, tears in her eyes, feeling her mates' pain at what Diana is saying, but it also personally hurts her too.

"I don't care! The moon goddess gave you to me, your problems are mine as well Diana, you know you don't have to do this alone! You are not nothing! Why say these things about yourself!?" He growls at her, wanting her to just explain what she means.

Rin pushes through pissed he is still pushing to keep this connection. She shoves him back, which wasn't an easy thing to do with him being much stronger and bigger than her,

"Because I can't have pups!" She screams through the mansion.

Ulric eyes widen in shock at her words then looks down as she lifts her shirt showing the deep scars on her stomach. Her eyes darken as Rin takes over spilling out their deep secret to everyone. Everyone gasps at the sight of scars on her.

"I didn't just lose my mate that day! I lost our child! I was two months pregnant. I should have stayed in the house like Darius told me too, but there were so many of them and everyone was fighting the rogues back the best we could. I had to help get the rest of the women and children to safety, I couldn't...leave them. A rogue got past heading right for a mother and her child running towards the shelter. I shifted jumping in front of them before the rogue got them, instead he got me slicing open my belly… When Darius found me, he went crazy and ran after the rogues, getting himself killed. I lost our child and from losing my mate, Rin was too weak to heal me. They had to do surgery to stop the bleeding, they removed my uterus to save me… How can a she wolf like me be worth anything, when she can't be the one thing she is made for?"

Tears streamed down Diana's pale face, her arms hugging her stomach tight as the pain of her loss crashed through her like a wave, like it just happened this very second. She lost everything that day, she is nothing now. Sounding defeated near the end of telling her story, not being able to look up at him.

Ulric looked at her falling apart before him, fully understanding now why Rin ignores her and the reason for her deep pain, but he still didn't see her worthless, but even more than before. Her sacrifice will not be in vain. After hearing her truth behind her story, he has no doubt in his mind now that she belongs here, at his side as the second Luna and Alpha of his pack.

Not saying a word he steps right back up to her, lifts her off the ground having her straddling his waist, crushing his body into hers against the door and claims her lips. Diana whimpers against his lips, her hands gripping his large shoulders as the rush of heat shoots down to her core from the sparks igniting her. His lips felt more amazing against hers than she ever imagined. Molding perfectly with his, she gasps as he bites her lower lip and smoothly slides his tongue into hers.

A moan escaped her at the taste of him. Her pain fading away and her need for him rising. Moving her hands to grip the back of his neck, running it through his soft thick jet black hair she kisses him back with just as much hunger. Once he is successful at stealing her breath away, smelling her arousal. He growls releasing her lips going to her neck, kissing down to the unmarked spot where he plans to leave his, licking and sucking her skin.

Diana moans out and gasps, bucking her hips more into him, feeling him teasing the sensitive spot where his mark should be, the opposite side from her former mate. They both completely forget everyone else around them.

"Ulric.." she whimpers.

Forcing himself to stop, he lifts his head looking into her black lust filled eyes, her breaths heavy and her cheeks stained from her tears.

"Listen to me carefully, my Angel. You are mine and I am not letting you go. I don't need you to birth me pups. I need you here, at my side, being my second Luna and Alpha. That is your purpose now, that's what you give me in return." He says softly in a deep husky voice that sends a pleasing shiver through her.

Lost in the haze of heat he just forced through her body, it takes her a second to register his words. Her breathing calms as she thinks more clearly looking into his darkened blue eyes, struggling not to claim her as his right now.

"Wait...what? Did you just say Luna and Alpha?" She breathes out, thinking she just imagined it.

He smirks, making her swallow, wanting those strong lips of his again to return claiming herself, to feel them on every inch of her body.

"Yes. You took the place of your mother since you lost her, being a little Luna to your pack and was trained by your father the ways of an Alpha. I need you Diana, for the sake of my pack, our pack."

She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Even Rin was surprised by this news, but he is not wrong. She is more than capable of being both Luna and Alpha, but is she really strong enough to help handle this large pack?

"You really think I can do that for your pack? My pack is only a small one, 300 at the most, yours...that's a lot of wolves."

He smiles, gripping her thighs, making her gasp feeling his hardness pressing more against her. She fights the urge to pull him closer and devour his lips, beg him to take her right now.

"You are more than capable. I have no doubt in my mind that you can do it. You have always been strong Diana, being there for your people no matter what, even sacrificing yourself for the safety of your pack. Just like an Alpha is suppose to do and Luna being there to comfort others and keep everyone calm. It's your natural instinct, your true purpose. Be with me Diana, be my Second Luna and Alpha of the Twin Moon pack."

Diana felt like her heart was going to burst out of her chest at how hard it was beating. This offer felt too good to be true, being given something she is actually worth doing. She turns to Rin in her head hoping she will be honest with her,

'What do you think Rin? Should we do it?'

Rin is silent for a long moment, then replies openly to Diana,

'Yes, this feels right, but not until we get that wolf's head. That comes first.'

Diana smiles happy tears stinging her eyes, 'I've missed you Rin, I'm really sorry for everything.'

'I am sorry too Diana, I see now at how selfish I was being. It was never your fault.'

'We were both to blame that day Rin.'

Turning her attention to her new mate looking in his eyes waiting with anticipation for her answer, everyone else in the room silent and holding their breath wanting to hear her.

"Yes, Ulric. I will be your second Luna and Alpha, but I need to do something. To have the closer that Rin and I need to move on." She smiles and giggles as he kisses her, overjoyed to hear her agree.

" What do you need, Angel. I will help you get this closer."

" No Diana, you should just let it go. Stay here, continue your new future with Alpha Ulric and Luna Freya, with your new pack." Jack begs her, stepping in already knowing what she wants to do.

They look over at Jack forgetting he was even there. Her face turns instantly red seeing the others. They just watched him make out with her and still has her pinned to the door with his body. Ulric sees her really uncomfortable suddenly being in this intimate position in front of the others, he honestly didn't care, but he gently sets her back down on her feet, keeping his arm around her, not letting her go.

"What is he talking about Angel?" Ulric asks her, concerned at why this closer of hers has her father reacting this way.

She sighs pushing her hair back to calm her embarrassment and flushed body,

"My brother called me. Told me my pack was attacked by the rogues again last night. They haven't attacked since I lost Darius. The wolf that attacked me and killed my mate is still alive. This is my chance to return and find the wolf, making him pay for what he took from me and Rin." She explains looking up at Ulric at her side.

Ulric looks in her eyes seeing she is determined to do this and it is what she needs to move on with him. Nothing he says will stop her from doing it, he has seen that same determined look in Freya, and he knows better to fight against it. Glancing down at her bags by the door, he sees she was ready to leave this instant.

"Okay. If this is what you need, Angel, then we will hunt this wolf down. Give me a couple of hours to get things in order and then we will go." He says, accepting her.

She furrows her brows at him, " No, you are not coming with me Ulric. Your pack needs you here, Freya needs you. I am not going to risk making the same mistake twice and at Freya's sake as well. I can handle this on my own."

" That is not up to you Diana. I am not letting you leave my side until we have officially completed the mating process. It's my job to keep you both safe as well as my pack. Freya will be safe here and Max can handle things for me until I return. It shouldn't take long to track this filth down. I am coming with you and that's final." Ulric orders, ending it there, silencing her with another breathtaking kiss and then turns to his Betas and Alpha Max.

"You three with me. Everyone else that has heard this lovely arrangement between Diana and I. You are not to speak a word of this until I have returned and Diana, Freya, and I have announced it to the pack ourselves. That understood?" He orders them in his Alpha tone.

They straighten up and in sync saying, " Yes Alpha!"

Ulric then turns to Jack, handing his dazed daughter still recovering from the kiss to him, "Keep her close, don't let her out of your sight. She tries to leave without me, she will regret it. Call Alpha Freki for me and let him know we are coming."

Diana cheeks burn looking up at Ulric, seeing him give her a mischievous smirk, daring her to try and run from him with his eyes. Rin growls in pleasure from the look in her head, fully on board with this new mate now. They were half tempted to run for it to see what he would even do, but she shouldn't push it. Maybe another time for that.

"Will do." Jack says smiling, putting an arm around his daughter. Knowing Ulric will be with her for this revenge mission of hers, he feels more confident she will be safe.

Everyone knows of Alpha Ulric and his pack, once the rogues realize who is hunting them, they would rather run then risk running into him. Ulric walks off with his betas and Alpha Max to his office. Jack grabs her bags while Freya comes up to her with tears in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry Diana." She cries.

Diana's heart twists at the sight of her mate's mate in tears. She rushes over to her, hugging her tight wanting to give her comfort,

"You didn't know Freya. It's okay, please don't cry." She says rubbing her back.

" That's just so awful to what happened to you. Just know I'm behind Ulric one hundred percent. Sue and I just know you belong right here with us and If this makes you happy, you can be just as much a mother to Ulric's and mine pups as if they were your own." Freya says taking Diana's hand putting it on the bump of her belly.

Diana tears up looking down at her lovely belly, feeling the strong pups insides moving to her touch as if they agree with their mother,

"I will always cherish them. Thank you Freya." She says feeling her heart warm with love from Freya and Ulric.

Diana bends down in front of Freya's belly and kisses it, holding it with both hands. "You two will put your daddy to shame, I just know it."

Freya laughs and sniffles, wiping her tears away. Diana stands hugging Freya again,

"I won't let anything happen to Ulric, I promise."

" I know you won't. You two make it back home safe, come back to me and our pack." Freya says warmly, giving Diana a sweet kind smile.

" We will." She says gently putting her hand back on Freya's belly not being able to help herself.
