The Waning Moon Of Pain

Chapter Five:

Back inside the mansion, Jack heads to Ulric's office to meet up with him, while Diana goes to get ready to spend the afternoon with the ladies of the place. Finding the office easy enough, he stops at the door and softly knocks.

"Come in." Ulric calls through the door.

Jack opens the door, stepping in. He spots Ulric sitting behind his desk with two others sitting in front of him.

"If you are busy, Alpha Ulric, I can come back later?" Jack offers not wanting to interrupt his work.

" No Alpha Jack, please come in and take a seat. These are my betas, Mark and Zach." Ulric says introducing the two men in the room.

Jack looks at the one called Mark, he is more of a lean muscular man with short blond hair, spiked up in the front, and caramel brown eyes. Zach has about the same haircut as Mark, but his hair is jet black and has hazel eyes. He is also much bigger than Mark, he looked like a bodybuilder. They shake Jack's hand in repsect and then Jack takes a seat in the third seat nearby.

Ulric leans back in his seat, resting his arms down on the arm rests. He looks at his desk a moment to collect his thoughts, knowing this is going to be a tough subject to bring up with Alpha Jack.

"Thank you for meeting with me, Alpha Jack. I hope you don't mind my betas sitting in with us while we talk. I try not to keep anything from them, I need them on board with me at all times to help me keep this large pack of ours stable."

" I understand, I have no problem with it. I am guessing you want to speak with me about Diana. Ask whatever you wish, Alpha Ulric. I am here to help my daughter in any way that I can. I will try to give you the best answers I can give, but please understand that if you ask me something I cannot answer, I'm just going to tell you to ask Diana about it. I told her you wanted to speak with me and she said herself, if there are things you wish to know that are very personal to ask her directly and if she feels ready to talk about it with you she will." Jack says getting everything out in the open for everyone so they are all on the same page.

Ulric nods, sitting up in his chair and rests his arms on his desk folding his hands. "I appreciate it. I will be sure to do so. I am glad she isn't upset that I wish to speak to you about her, but she is very smart, I wouldn't expect anything less if she didn't see this coming."

" She always understands people's actions and never becomes rash about things. What do you wish to know?"

Ulric looks Jack in the eyes, Alpha to Alpha. " I have a small confession to make. Yesterday when she left the breakfast table and you went after her. I followed, I wanted to make sure she was really okay and I didn't do anything to upset her. When I found you both, she was already crying in your arms and I overheard her speak about her wolf. I apologise for invading her privacy."

" I know. I could tell you were close by, I might be old but I still notice my surroundings. She didn't notice though because of her state. I am actually glad you heard it from her. Only I and her brother knows her true state." Jack says, his voice low, rubbing his hands.

" Then it is true? Her wolf is harming her and is not communicating with her?"

Jack sighs pushing his hair back with his hand and nods, "Yes, ever since she lost her mate, her wolf cut her completely off. For the first couple of months, we had to keep her sedated to stop her wolf from hurting her. She kept trying to commit suicide, but it was her wolf doing it not Diana. I know my daughter, she is a fighter, she wouldn't give up like that. She knows Darius would want her to keep going. Thankfully her wolf stopped eventually and just went completely silent."

Jack watched as a mix of emotions swirls in Ulric's eyes, turning black for a second, but he suppresses his wolf back and takes a second to calm his swirling emotions of his wolf.

"That's unfortunate. With her wolf not working with her in recovering, she will always be weak. Also her and I won't be able to complete the mating process until her wolf is one with her again. I can't even accept her into the pack without her wolf agreeing with her. Have you tried reaching out to her wolf?"

" Her brother and I have, but it was no use. Rin wants nothing to do with us. I am hoping with you being her second chance mate, that the mating bond will help pull Rin out to make her speak with Diana. Diana said that Rin spoke and howled out in her head when you two first acknowledged the mating connection. Then whenever you are around her Rin is paying attention in silence, but Diana feels her. If anyone can reach her wolf, I know you can."

Ulric eyes light up hearing the name of Diana's wolf. His wolf growls in his head loving the sound of his mates name.

'Rin. What a lovely name. We will definitely have a word with her.' Blake says in Ulric's mind.

Ulric smirks agreeing with his wolf. "Then that's what I will do, I will try to get Rin to connect with Diana again. It's not right for her to live like this. Why does Rin reject Diana for what happened? Does she blame her for it?"

He notices Jack tense at this question and adjusts in his seat, "Rin does blame Diana for what happened." He says, not mentioning anything else.

"Why?" Ulric asks in a small growl as this annoys his wolf.

"That is something I can't say. You will have to ask her. She doesn't wish anyone to know the full details of what happened that day. It's not going to be easy for her to talk about, but I know she will let you know why eventually. She can't keep running from that day."

Ulric huffs annoyed to not get an answer, but he told him that there will be things he must ask her about at the start,

"Very well I will work on speaking with her about it. Thank you for letting me know enough to know where to start with helping her. I think this might be part of why the goddess gave her a second mate. She will not be able to ignore me and I will get her wolf to talk. They both need to face what happened, work it out or it's not going to end well, for the both of us."

" Alpha, are you really wanting to finish the mating bond with her? Even if you get her to connect with her wolf again and make peace. How will we know if her wolf doesn't decide to lash out on her again in the future. Completing the bond will make her the second Luna of the pack, is she even capable of such a big task?" Zach asks, bringing things to light of concerns that he and Mark had.

Ulric looks at his betas seeing this has been on their mind a while since he told them about Diana. He doesn't mind Zach speaking freely about any concerns they have. It's how they keep a strong bond and keep no secrets between each other.

"That is not something I can be sure about until she is one with herself again to know, but yes if she makes up with her wolf, I have no doubt Diana will make a great second Luna to our pack. She acted as a Luna for her pack since her mother passed at a young age. I have seen it first hand myself." Ulric says reassuring them.

" Then what about you taking on both the Alpha positions? You are going to have your hands full Alpha, this pack is a lot to take on. We are barely keeping it together as is."

Jack smiles as a thought comes to him, " I think my daughter is also a solution to that problem. I think I see now why the moon goddess has chosen her to be your second mate. I trained my daughter with her brother on how to take on Alpha duties. She is of Alpha blood. She can act as an Alpha and Luna."

The three looked at him like that was crazy. One person being the Alpha and Luna of a pack, but it did make a lot of sense. Ulric actually didn't hate the idea of it, it could actually work, but that's if Diana gets better and wishes to accept the role. They shouldn't get ahead of themselves.

"You may be right, but let's not jump too far ahead right now. Let's work on getting Diana better and connect her with her wolf again. Then after that we will figure out where we are going to go from there. We also keep this to ourselves. I don't wish to tell the pack anything yet until we have everything figured out. It will just cause confusion and trouble for Diana that she doesn't need right now."

" Yes Alpha." His betas say in sync with each other.

He smiles and nods, looking at Jack,

"I think that's all the questions I have for now. With the girls occupied with each other. Would you care to join us for a drink and chat?" Ulric asks Jack.

" Sounds good to me." Jack says happily. It's been a while sinces he's gotten to just relax and have a drink with the guys. This will also help them get to know more about each other.

Ulric smiles, pushing back from his desk and stands. They stand with him and leave the office to go to another room to be more comfortable and chat among themselves casually.
