Chapter 5

Alexia’s POV

The next day I was woken up by my brother and Bella. They had opened my curtains as I could feel the warmness from the sun on my face. 

“Can I pick your outfit for our first day of school here please?” Bella asked me.

“No absolutely not. Not after yesterday!” Max said.

“Well to bad it’s not your choice and you have to leave so she can change.” Bella told him.

He mumbled something but I couldn’t quite understand him. I just smiled a bit until I realised what was about to happen. I love Bella don’t get me wrong but sometimes she is unpredictable. One time she had me wearing a f*****g skin tight dress and I didn’t realize until I had it on because she’d thought it be in her words “A change in style.” 

I sometimes regret letting her dress me but sometimes she does a pretty good job. At times it feels like I’m not myself when she dresses me because I think the way I dress kinda reflects me. I used to wear dresses all the time when I was younger but they usually never stayed clean as I would never act what people like to call a girl. At this point in time nothing has changed other than the fact that I don’t wear dresses other than that time Bella made me wear it. 

Most people consider me as a tomboy from the way I dress and act. And I’m glad they do because I’d rather be called a tomboy than a plastic barbie b***h. I wished I could just go back to skateboarding and playing sports like before. But all that changed after the accident. 

I was brought out of my thoughts when Bella handed me a pair of clothes.

“It’s a white long sleeve blouse with a black bow with a black shirt and heals.” Bella says.

I didn’t want to wear the skirt or heels but to make her happy I did. She left for a quick second to get her bag from her room. I kicked off the heels and the skirt and made my way to my closet and pulled out a pair of jeans not knowing what color they were as well as a pair of my converse.

“Alex, why did you change? I thought you liked the outfit.” Bella said, sounding a bit hurt.

I used gestures to try and make her understand that the other outfit wasn’t me and I wanted to dress the way I like.

“So what you are trying to tell me is you liked the outfit but it wasn't for you and you prefer your jeans and converse over heels and skirts.”

I nod in response.

“It doesn’t matter, you still look hot. You know you pulled out a nice outfit. The black skinny jeans and black converse go good with the blouse.” She said and I just smiled.

We headed downstairs together after I brushed my teeth and put my hair into a ponytail. We were greeted by everyone saying good morning. I took a seat at what I'm guessing was the kitchen island. My aunt put a plate in front of me and said “eat up you’re gonna need all the energy to get through the day.”

Once we were done eating Max and Bella helped me to the car while my aunt took Logan, Olivia, and Jason to school. We drove for a good 5 minutes until we got to school. When Bella helped me out of the car we were greeted by Sofia and her brother Alexander. 

“Hey guys!” Sofia said

“Sup guys.” Alexander said.

“Hey.” Max and Sofia said at the same time.

“Hey Sofia, where's the principal’s office?” asked Bella.

“Follow me.” Said Sofia as she started to walk off.

We walked behind Sofia and Alexander as we made our way to the principal’s office. As we were walking I felt as if everyone was looking at me. Max just gave me a side hug to reassure me everything will be different from before that this is a fresh start for all of us. Once we were at the principal’s office we knocked on the door and walked in. 

“Hey aunt Sonia.” Sofia and Alexander said at the same time.

“Hi kids nice to see you but remember I’m principal Sonia at school.” Both Sofia and Alexander nodded.

“What brings you here?” Sonia asked.

“We’ve brought in the new students.” Sofia said excitedly. 

“Nice to meet you all.” Sonia said.

Max and Bella smiled back .

I stayed silent until Sofia went up to Sonia as she recalled the conversation we had yesterday and whispered to her if she could tell Alexander to take Max to see where his classes were.

“Let me just print out your class schedule Max and Alexander will show you around the school.” Sonia said.

Max just nodded in response. Once he had his class schedule he hugged me before heading out the door.

Once they left we all sat down. 

“Why didn’t you want them here dear?” Sonia asked Sofia.

“Well aunt you see Alexia I mean Alex is blind but mute as well. And she doesn’t want anyone to know. So far only I know since she moved and now you. For f***s sake Alexander doesn’t even know.” Sofia said to her aunt.

“Watch your language young lady.” Sonia said while nodding in understanding. 

“Well how about I put her in some of the same classes as you, Bella, Max, and your brother so at least one of you guys is with her.” 

“That'd be great. Thanks aunt. You are the best.” Sofia said.

“You only say that when you are pleased with something I do.” Sonia said while rolling her eyes.

They all start laughing. Soon she printed out our schedules and gave them to us. Sonia walked with us to our first class. When we walked in I could feel all eyes on us. Sonia took the teacher out for a moment to explain well my situation as she was going to be doing that with every teacher I had. 

Max got up and told me to just take his hand and he would bring me to an empty seat. I did as he told me with Bella and Sofia right behind me. As soon as I sat down the teacher walked back in and continued with her lesson as if nothing happened. All throughout class I could feel people looking my way but I wasn’t completely sure if they were looking at me or Sofia or Max. 

Max could sense I was feeling uncomfortable and gave my hand a squeeze to tell me he was right here for me. I reached to grab onto Bella’s hand to give it a squeeze as well but when I grabbed it and squeezed it I realized it wasn’t Bella’s hand and quickly moved my hand and started to panic on the inside because I didn’t know who that person was. 

Bella must have seen what I had done as she placed her hand on my shoulder and gave it a squeeze to calm me down as she was sitting behind me. She poked Max so he would turn around so she could tell him. 

“Alex don’t worry it was just Alexander.” Max whispered. 

Then I started to panic a bit more. What if he thought I liked him? What if he thought I was weird? Well I am weird sooooo. What if he found out? All these thoughts were coming into my mind until I felt someone’s hand on mine. I couldn’t recognise the feeling of the hand. I tried to free my hand but the person held onto it tighter.

“Don’t worry it’s just me.” Alexander said rubbing circles on my hand.

For some odd reason I started to calm down. When class was over we headed towards our next class which was Math. When we got inside the teacher walked over to us and asked if she could talk to me. As I was getting up so did Max and we both walked out of the classroom. 

“Alexia I just wanted you to know I’m going to try my best to help you out with whatever you need in my class, okay.” 

I nodded in response. 

“Max, as for you I expect your very best in my class got that.”

“Yes, my very best.” Max said in a sarcastic voice.

Max helps me back to my seat which was yet again next to Alexander and Max. I wished I could have been seated next to Bella or Sofia. Don’t get me wrong Alexander hasn’t done anything bad yet. It’s just he doesn’t know about my condition and I can’t lean on him for support like Max or Bella and at this point Sofia as well. 

I could feel Alexander looking at me for most of the class. I look straight ahead to make it seem like I’m paying attention to the lesson. Once math class was over we had two other classes before lunch. 

Lunch came and Max asked me and Bella if we wanted to stay at school to eat at the cafeteria or if we wanted to get something else to eat. I gestures saying I wanted to eat pizza.

“What kind?” Max asked.

I gestured again this time indicating half maui zaui and the other half pepperoni. 

“Okay so half pepperoni and half maui zaui.” Maxed said.

I nodded.

“Okay so we’ll go get the pizza then come back and eat it here.” Bella said.

Before we could continue walking to the car I stopped them. They looked at me I put two fingers up then made a pizza gesture so they could know I wanted the pizza all for my own and if they wanted some they had to get their own.

“Fine fine. Two pizzas it is. I still wonder how you could eat a whole pizza on your own.” Max said.

I just shrugged. We made our way to a pizza place. Once we got our pizzas we headed back to school. Along the way back Max and Bella were deciding where we would go to eat the pizzas. They decided we’d go to the football field so we could sit on the grass. 

As we were making our way to the field Sofia came up to us.

“Where have you guys been? I’ve been looking all over for you guys.” She said.

“Sorry someone here was carving some pizza.” Max said pointing towards me.

“Ouuu Pizza I want some.” Sofia said.

“Did I just hear pizza?” Alexander asked, walking up behind Sofia.

“Yeah you wanna join us.” Max said as we walked to sit on the grass.

Soon after everyone was sitting on the grass.

“So what kind of pizza did you guys get?” Sofia asked. 

“We got pepperoni and Alex got half pepperoni and half maui zaui.” Bella said.

“Ouuu maui zaui my favorite.” Alexander said as he tried to grab the box from me.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you dude.” Max warned him.

But Alexander didn’t listen and tried to get it again and next thing he knew he was punched in the jaw by me. I was surprised I got him in the jaw. I was expecting to punch him on the arm or something not his jaw. 

“What the f**k was that for?” Alexander said.

Everyone looked at me then at Alexander. Then they started laughing.

“Told you dude.” Max said, still laughing.

I knew I should feel bad but honestly I didn’t because when it comes to pizza no one better get in my way. 

I took a slice of pizza and began eating as if nothing happened. I could feel Alexander looking at me. But I didn’t care as I continued to eat my pizza. There were only two slices left of pizza and I decided to be a nice person and give Alexander one slice as I did kinda punch him in the jaw. I gave him the slice as an apology. Max and Bella looked at each other surprised that I did that since I’ve never done that before to anyone. Sofia looked at them and wondered what was going on and they both shrugged not knowing either.

“She’s never done that before. She usually just aims for our arms to punch us and never apologies. Let alone give us some of her pizza. She protects pizza more than she would protect us.” Max whispered to Sofia.

“Could it be she feels guilty that she punched him in the jaw or could it be she’s getting feelings for him.” Sofia said whispering and squealing at the end.

“No, no, no. To the hell no.” Max said while Bella started squealing as well.

Max being the over protective brother he is stood up and pulled me to my feet making me drop my pizza in the process and started dragging me away from them while I was hitting him. Halfway across the field I stopped hitting him and fought back from being dragged away by him. I planted my feet on the ground where I was as Max tried to drag me away once again. 

He kept struggling until he decided to carry me. I started to bang my fist against his back so he would put me down. Bella was trying to catch up to us with Sofia and Alexander shouting at Max. But that only caused Max to speed up and take me to my next class.
