Colton’s words echoed in my head, steady, certain.
“My father didn’t do this.”
And I believed him.
That was the unsettling part.
Because if he, who knew his father better than anyone, was this sure…
Then the ground beneath us had just shifted again.
I exhaled slowly, pressing my palm flat against my thigh just to feel something solid.
