THE BILLIONAIRE'S CRAVING
CHAPTER 2: MEETING ADRIAN
I met my first love at one of my best friend’s wedding events. His name was Adrian Kendrick.
He was sweet, handsome, and funny—the kind of man who looked too perfect to be real, like he had been specially created with no flaws. Everywhere he went, women whispered about his beauty and dreamy features. I had heard so much about him from Acacia, my best friend.
One afternoon, Acacia and I decided to visit the mall. We were talking about our normal lives—school stress, family issues, and random gossip—when we suddenly bumped into him.
Adrian.
The moment my eyes landed on him, I froze for a second. He was even more attractive in person. Tall, well-built, and effortlessly charming. There was something about his presence that made the environment feel different.
He smiled warmly at Acacia. “Hey.”
“Adrian!” she replied excitedly.
They exchanged pleasantries while I stood there, quietly observing him. His voice was calm, his smile genuine, and his confidence… effortless.
After a brief conversation, we went our separate ways and continued shopping.
But Acacia wouldn’t stop talking.
“You have no idea how many girls are crazy about him,” she said.
I scoffed lightly. “That’s because they don’t have anything better to do. And besides, he’s not my type. I’m way above that.”
Acacia raised an eyebrow. “He’s rich, successful, and kind. What exactly is your type then?”
“I don’t care about his money,” I replied firmly. “I can make my own. And I don’t have time for someone who has girls following him around like fans.”
“Hmm… if you say so,” she teased. “But I can totally hook you two up.”
I shot her a look. “Don’t even think about it.”
“Relax, tiger,” she laughed. “But you can’t stay single forever. You’re eighteen. Even Hibiscus has a boyfriend.”
I sighed. “If you want to find me a prince charming, go ahead. But don’t blame me when it goes wrong.”
Before she could respond, a familiar voice interrupted us.
“You guys didn’t wait for me!”
We turned to see Hibiscus rushing toward us.
“Hi,” we said in unison.
She looked between us suspiciously. “What were you two arguing about?”
“We weren’t arguing,” I replied quickly. “Just discussing.”
“Please,” she laughed. “I saw your face, Honey. You looked like you were about to explode.”
Acacia burst out laughing. “Exactly! She looked like red popcorn.”
“It’s not funny,” I said, trying not to smile.
“So what’s the topic?” Hibiscus asked.
“Boyfriend matters,” Acacia said dramatically. “I think she and Adrian would look good together.”
Hibiscus gasped. “The handsome CEO you told me about?”
“Yes!”
“Oh my God, they would look perfect together.”
I groaned. “Can we not do this right now?”
“Why not?” Hibiscus teased. “Unless you’re secretly interested.”
“I’m not,” I said quickly. Then paused. “Okay… maybe he’s attractive. But that doesn’t mean anything.”
Acacia smirked. “Progress.”
I rolled my eyes. “Let’s just change the topic.”
“Fine,” Hibiscus said. “Let’s talk about the wedding.”
That immediately lifted my mood.
We spent hours planning the events—laughing, arguing, and throwing ideas around.
“The wedding, bridal shower, dinner luncheon…” I listed.
“And Arabian night!” Acacia added excitedly.
“Five events,” she continued. “I want it big.”
“The bride has spoken,” Hibiscus said dramatically.
We all laughed.
Eventually, we came up with the idea of a Fun Competitive Day—a unique event where guests would pair up and participate in different challenges.
At that moment, I didn’t know that decision would change everything.
---
The wedding events began days later.
Each event turned out beautifully. The bridal shower was elegant, the dinner luncheon was lively, and the Arabian night felt magical. Everything was perfect.
But the best day was the Fun Competitive Day.
June 16th.
The day I truly met Adrian.
---
The venue was alive with excitement. Laughter filled the air as guests prepared for the games. I stood at a distance, admiring everything.
“Damn… I really did this,” I whispered to myself, smiling proudly.
“You did more than that,” Acacia said, walking up to me. “You created something amazing.”
“You’re definitely planning my wedding,” Hibiscus added.
“Of course,” I replied playfully.
As we continued talking, a calm, deep voice interrupted.
“Hi.”
We turned.
And there he was.
Adrian.
For a moment, everything around me faded. He looked even better than before—elegant, confident, and effortlessly attractive.
“My name is Adrian Kendrick,” he said.
I blinked, snapping out of my thoughts. “Honey Yale Marshall.”
“Nice to meet you, Honey.”
His voice was smooth… almost comforting.
“Would you like to be my partner for the competition?” he asked.
My heart skipped slightly.
“I would, but Hibiscus is already my partner,” I replied.
“Oh… didn’t we mention?” Acacia said casually. “Partners must be of the opposite gender.”
I slowly turned to look at her.
Expressionless.
Dangerously calm.
“Excuse us,” Hibiscus said quickly, dragging Acacia away.
“No,” Acacia insisted. “Honey, stay with him.”
“Why?” I asked calmly.
“We need to check something,” she said.
“They arrived thirty minutes ago,” I replied.
“Just excuse us,” they said before disappearing.
I stood there, slightly annoyed.
But I forced a smile.
“I’m sorry if I made things awkward,” Adrian said.
“You didn’t,” I replied softly.
“Shall we sit?” he suggested.
“That would be nice.”
We sat down together.
At first, it was a bit quiet.
Then he spoke.
“So… you planned all this?”
“Yes,” I said.
“That’s impressive.”
“Thank you.”
There was a brief pause.
Then, unexpectedly, we both laughed.
“I don’t usually talk this much,” he admitted.
“Really? You seem like someone who has everything under control.”
“Only on the outside,” he said.
I found myself smiling.
For the next few minutes, we talked—about random things, life, interests… and surprisingly, it felt easy.
Comfortable.
Natural.
Then suddenly, Acacia’s voice echoed through the speakers.
“Everyone, please get ready! The competition starts in two minutes!”
We both stood.
I looked at him.
He looked at me.
And for a brief moment…
Everything felt different.
“Ready, partner?” he asked.
I smiled.
“Let’s see what you’ve got.”
And just like that…
It began.
