(Kay's P.O.V)
All I could feel was the thirst. A thirst so strong it turned me mad. I couldn't know how to end it. My mouth was dry. I was cold, my body was no longer tortured by the past pain but was filled with a dull ache that kept me restless and even though I was just awakening, I was utterly exhausted. When I opened my eyes I realized I was laying over a soft bed with a withe and red canopy over it, a chandelier hung from the roof, the soft silk sheet caressed my skin and I was left in bed with nothing more than my undergarments and my once withe shirt. My arm had been bandaged as well as my other wounds. I had no idea how I've ended in this place.
I could hear everything, from the flame of the nearest candle to the mute whisper of air caressing the window.
A scent danced in the air. It was metallic at first but ended turning into something different that I couldn't caught. Before I'd do or think anything else, a woman entered the room, THE woman whom I had last memory of.
"Your were out for quite a while sweetie, but do not worry you'll be fine now" The way she was approaching the bed was hypnotizing. "You did a great appearance back there, in your uniform and all of it. But now we both know that you are ain't soldier, why are you dressed like one, girl?" I tried to speak but she shushed me... "No, no my brave soldier. I've not finished yet. Even supposing you are in the army, how on earth did you get those scars on your back? Better yet, how did you stole the uniform?" She was now crawling over the bed, she put her hand on my clavicle while her weight rested by my side.
With her comment I was afraid she could blackmailed me or accuse me of being a burglar.
"I am not lying Madame nor did I stole the clothes. I am a soldier in his Majesty's regiment, I was reinstalled in the 'Acheron' to follow orders from Captain Williams"
"A girl in the army, what a curiosity. And of course they don't know you're a lass, otherwise you wouldn't be here..." She got out of the bed and stood beside it, looking at me.
"I've got something for you" she said pointing at a glass cup filled with a thick reddish content.
I stared back at it with fear of truly knowing what it was, but with something craving inside me for it.

As if she had listened my thoughts, the woman answered.
"I've saved your life by condemning you to what can be both, a blessing and a curse. I'm sure the simple thought of it despises you but when you were lying on the street I saw fear in your eyes; yes I can tell you're the type of person who would give her life willingly to save someone else's, but in the end you where terrified by the idea of dying. I couldn't let you end up like that, besides..." She leaned in and kissed me passionately "... you're too handsome and young for that. I knew I wanted you since the first time I saw you"
She had saved my life but all I could think of her was that she was dangerous and tricky, she cajoled people with some s****l offering.
"For my job to be done I need you to drink this" she handed me the cup. The crave in me seemed to get stronger when it was near me.
"You're not dead, but you'll surely die if you don't drink it..." I was loosing my own will with all of it, so I changed the subject.
"Who are you?" I asked with hoarse voice.
"I believe you have a very good idea of what I am. As for the who, if you ask for a name, it is Scarlett. Excuse me if I won't give more details with formalities but you must stop resisting that impulse in you, you must drink that cup's content...and maybe we'll do formalities latter" ...
Lauren payed attention to everything I said, without interrupting, even when I was sure she'd have some doubts.
"After a while I had to succumb to both her velvety words and my thirst. She left me clear that I owe her nothing, but she always seemed to want something from me. After a month in which she liked to seek and visit me once a week, she agreed to my request in leaving me alone. With years passing by we often crossed paths, of course she always intended to leave the encounters and turn them into a permanent settle existence involving some kind of seduction games. She insisted almost every time, but I never agreed. That only turned her colder than she was.
The las time I saw her was in 1945, I had caught a horrible fever and was almost dying. She found and looked after me for almost a month, saving my life"
I hushed waiting for any reaction in Lauren's acting. In despite of anything I might have thought, she seemed very calm. I raised my hand to her cheek.
"My path may have tangled with hers, but I never loved her"
She raised her sight and looked at me.
"I love only you, Lauren"
She smiled and hugged me.
"I don't care whatever happened with her in the past, I trust you. The only thing you have to worry about now is to rest and recover" she smiled and gave me a kiss. Before she got up I stopped her, taking something out of my pocket and giving it to her.
"What's this?"
"A gift, for you" smiling, she unwrapped it. Revealing a blue/violet roughish stone. I smiled, Lauren's face shown a genuine amazement.
"It's a Tanzanite stone" I told her "very rarely fond blue without being worked"
"It's beautiful" she hold the stone close to her heart "Thank you, I love it" giving me another kiss, we both knew we had to rest.
"Good night, Kay"
"Good night"
I dozed off to end falling asleep till I saw light behind my eyelids. I was not alone in the room. Jess was there. Right after I opened my eyes she spoke.
"I thought you'd sleep for the entire week. But now that you're awake you can answer my questions"
Honestly, I disliked the way she started talking to me because I could tell there was an aggressive tone in her voice and that she didn't need for me to answer her. Reluctantly I manage to incorporate myself and sit properly on the sofa. When I looked at her I saw her eyes were on my face, analyzing it, trying to decipher something in me.
"But first, is there anything you'd like to tell me?"
My mouth was dry but I talked anyway.
"I would like to apologize, Miss Wells. And I assure you I wouldn't have come here to ask your help but I'm afraid the situation require it. Please forgive if my presence in your home ruined your night" She stared at me with a rises brow and an sceptic look.
I mentally reprehended myself for behaving as if I'd still be living in 1700's, totally forgetting that the expressions I learned were now different in 21st century.
Lauren's sister crossed her arms, cleared her throat and continued.
"...Look, Kay. I'm sorry but you talking properly to me won't help your situation. How you got injured yesterday?" Of course I was intending to lie.
"An assault. I could do nothing about it and I knew no one else in the neighborhood so..." She nodded.
"Sorry, but I don't believe you. What where you smoking before you arrived yesterday?" She was talking about my redden eyes.
"It is not what you think-"
"I'm sure it's not"
"If you look in my jacket's pocket you'll see it's true. I'm not into drugs" Reaching for it she found a prescription. I had kept that for a while now. Police had stopped me once or twice.
"It may be true. Will you explain to me what on earth's type of allergy to silver was that? Why we had to call someone at the other side of the country?"
"Forgive me Miss but, even when I don't want to be rude, I can not answer that...at least not now"
Jess didn't like that, she said nothing but her body expressed all she hushed. Still respected my right.
"I assume if I ask for your parents you'll keep quiet as well..." I nodded. "At least answer me this: What are your intentions with my sister?"
I froze never waiting for that answer.
"Do you truly love her?"
"More than my life" Again she nodded in response.
"Look...I don't trust you, I don't like you...but my sister cares for you so...I'll try for her"
As an answer I almost bowed.
"But if you hurt her in any way, you'll regret it. If you break her heart I'll come after you"
"I found that very fair" I hesitated a bit before talking "So...this means I have your approval to woo her?" Both of her brows raised in surprise. I cleared my throat. "I mean...to...be with her?"
"I understood the first time you said it"Even I was many years older than this woman I was amazingly and bloody intimidated by her. I assumed it was due to my old fashioned respect elders way.
After taking a deep breath she answered.
"Yes, you can...date my sister" This meant we didn't have to hide it from her, which was better.
"Thank you. I'm very grateful for your hospitality and help but, I must go now" she seemed a bit shocked, but before trying to stop me she thought it better.
"I suppose you're better now. Try not to open those sutures, I took time with them"
I arrived to the door being followed by her.
"Could you please tell Lauren that I had to go?"
"Yeah, don't worry I'll tell her. Oh and, by the way, your Russian friend wants you to call her"
"I will. Thank you, Jess, for everything" she answered with a 'sure' and closed the door behind me.
I started walking under the shelter of shadowed streets before taking out my phone and call Svetla.
