(Lauren's P.O.V)
I was writing at my desk in my room, finishing some history homework that needed to be deliver the next day. My attention was focused at my assignment when the screen of my cellphone lightened, it was a message from Kay.
'Hello, mo claddagh. Am I interrupting? (Forgive me for my delay in writing you but I forgot the flat thing at home)'
'Kay, thank God you answered. I wanted to know how you were doing and got worried when I had no answer. Are you all right?'
'Aye, do not worry for me. Thanks to your sister's work, I'm much better'
'I'm glad your are...I was wondering if you would want to have dinner with us, I mean, me and my sister, next weekend?'
'Are you sure it's a good idea, Lauren? I don't know if Jess would like me being around...'
'C'mon! Kay. I won't deny she doesn't like you very much, but she has promised to come to terms with it. That includes having dinner with you at the table'
'All right, if you say so, love. I guess I can accept the offer then'
'Great, I'll tell her first hour in the morning. By the way, what where you doing out? Shouldn't you be resting?'
'Well yes, but I needed blood and went for it, besides, a friend of mine crashed here after your call to London so...'
'Oh you have a visit, that's great, at least you're not alone there. Sorry if I attracted unwanted attention towards you but I really panicked'
'Do not worry, I understand. Felix may be a bit extravagant sometimes but he's been my friend for centuries'
We changed the messages for a call and I heard a chuckle from the other side of the phone and laughed imagining Kay's face. Suddenly she remembered I was intending to finish my homework, and tried to let me finish but I practically begged for her to stay in the line and asked for her help. I know, I'm good at school but I didn't want her to 'go' and some of the things the report asked for where a bit tricky. When we had finished, and by the time we both realized, it was one and half in the morning.
Sooner than we both realized, weekend was already here and it was still early afternoon when I got downstairs to leave and look for Kay. I stopped at my living room, looking at my sister who was running from the kitchen to our dinning table, arranging plates. Apparently, she looked stressed, to my surprise.
"Jess?" I started. "Is everything alright?"
My sister raised her sight from her task and turned to me.
"Sure, Lauren. Yeah, everything's fine..." She looked around her, towards the small chaos she had. "Uhmm, I think it's better if you go and find your girlfriend, don't you think? Don't worry about this, leave it to me, I'll have it all ready before you two return"
Trying to nod without laughing a bit about her nervousness, I turned around and left through the door.
The walk to Kay's home is quite quick, even though once I'm outside the place of the address she texted me, I start to doubt I've got it right. I go for a call to verify with her.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Kay?...Uhm, I'm outside the place you told me to be but, I think I might have it wrong...?"
"Hey love. Do not worry, let me see through the window and we'll verify you're at the right place" After some seconds she told me to look up and when seeing her face looking down to me, she waved her hand while talking to the phone: 'Hello there'. I laughed and hung the phone as she turned back in to get down.
She hugged me and whispered an 'I missed you' in my ear before kissing my lips tenderly.
"It's been merely hours since you left my house" I teased while she caressed my neck "I thought you could handle yourself. How have you survived all this decades?" I said.
"Funny" she answered as I laugh and she takes my hand. "Shall we leave?" I nod and start walking back to my place.
(Kay's P.O.V)
We entered Lauren's place and I could feel my throat closing, my mouth drying and my breathing changing.
It truly was ridiculous for a vampire to be nervous by it's girlfriends sister. Last time we talked she was in a better mood but I have no idea how I'll deal with her for the entire time at the table.
"We're here" Announced my girlfriend with her sweet voice. Couple of minutes later, her sister answered.
"Oh, that´s excellent! Food is ready"
Jess appeared by the living room and stared at her sister before doing the same with me. Her voice sounded cheerful, or so it sounded to me. I guessed she's not sure of what to think about me.
"You're here... Great, Kay. Welcome," she stretched my hand "it's great you do could come. Lauren, please, why don't you both go to the dinning room and I get everything from the kitchen?"
"Sure" Lauren said. I nodded at Jess before giving her a 'thank you' and followed my girlfriend to the table.
Dinner started with the sound of forks and knives against dishes and my optimistic claddagh trying to start a conversation.
Surprisingly for me, it worked. Jess got interested in my birth place and got curious asking questions about its national heritage and weather.
Suddenly, she changes the subject.
"Tell me, Kay. How long it's been since your last...relationship?"
Lauren coughed by my side as my fork paused midway to my mouth. Lauren stopped coughing and turned to her sister. "Jess, please..." She whispers.
"Well, Lauren. I didn't want to be...intrusive but, I'm just curious"
I really want to think so. I cleared my throat before answering.
"Ahm, it's been a while, actually..." Jess seems to watch my every move and I can't answer truly because that would be more than my supposed lived years. "Four years." I say, hopping for Jess to be satisfied with my reply.
She nods catching a lettuce leave with her fork before saying "It do has been a while" and eating it. Lauren grabs my hand under the table and gives me a shy smile as I give her a quick wink.
"What about school? Do you attend any?"
I think she didn't really meant to sound as harsh as she did. Lauren rolled her eyes and sent her a killer sight.
"I do indeed. Aye. I submitted my papers two weeks ago and I'm supposed to incorporate myself and start next Monday. Uhm...I'll attend Lauren's high school for what remains of the year, then I can focus on university" Of course I couldn't not mention the idea of university cuz, I know Jess would asked for it. I also enjoyed her face when I said I´ll be at Lauren's school. My girlfriend could barely believe what she'd listened and gave me a smile that took my breath away. Jess on the other hand, couldn´t seem to find the proper words to express her surprise.
