The ship and Leanmelle

705 Words
As they reached the docks the six looked around for a nice sized ship to charter. The six walked the dock for awhile before coming upon a small ship with five blue sails, it was perfect for what the six needed. Together they boarded and saw elvish sailors cleaning the deck, surprise hit them everyone knew elves hated being on the water so far from land "Where is your captain?" Theoden asked one of the men. The elf simply pointed to what appeared to be the captain's quarters. The six made their way over, Theoden knocked on the door a few seconds later a strong, deep voice called "Enter." Theoden opened the door and the six walked in. The captain was a short elf whose voice did not match his height, his hair was dark brown with hints of gray exposing his age, his eyes were sunflower yellow showing dwarvish heritage. Theoden smiled "Sir, we would like to charter your ship to take us to Leanmelle, we will obviously pay you." he said. The captain raised an eyebrow "Why would I agree to this?" he asked. Theoden sighed "Well I'm sure you've heard about the war, the capital has been taken, the queen is missing, and we need to get the only heir to safety." he said pointing to Ayred. The captain was shocked for a moment "Prince Ayred? I had no idea. You have a deal, I'll take you across the sea." he said composing himself. The crew finished loading the ship and the six went below deck to find their rooms. They found themselves surrounded by green, vines of ivy lined the railing of the stairs, there were small trees potted periodically along the hallway. It was like a small paradise inside the ship, the six now understood how the elvish crew handled being at sea for so long. The six settled into their rooms before going back up on deck just in time to watch Aelenor disappear on the horizon. The Emerald Sea seemed far more beautiful than the first time the six had crossed it, the water seemed brighter, the air crisper, the sky clearer, they found they were enjoying themselves this time. Celaena and Theoden stood together, Celaena was still in pain from what the humans put her through. She still refused to talk about what they did to her. Ayred stood alone thinking about his brother, and his mother who for all he knew was dead at this point, which would make him king something he truly wasn't ready to accept. Arcaena was also alone, her mind on Ailwin too, but surprisingly more important was Elzae. The little dragon was on her mind a lot recently, Arcaena couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with the hatchling and the growing distance between them didn't help. Wyn and Shael were together making small talk, the two had grown quite close since their trip to Cresa. Time seemed to go by quickly, soon enough they were mere hours from Leanmelle. Excitement grew in the six as the city appeared on the horizon. Small mountains created a bay that held the docks of Leanmelle, unlike the other elvish cities Leanmelle wasn't next to a forest, it was built inside the forest. The houses were built by bending branches into the shape of homes, the roads were created using the same technique. Flowering vines hung from the tops of houses all the way to the ground, the canopy blocked out the sun almost completely. Lanterns hung from the bridges and roads around the city. The six climbed the vines up to the roads and began looking for the castle and the lord who ruled over the city. Celaena seemed to regain a bit of her usual happiness being among so much nature, Theoden found a sense of joy seeing Celaena at peace. The six slowly made their way along the wooden roads until they reached the largest tree in the area inside laid the castle, the tree had been hollowed out. The walls were made of red stone, the floor was made of the same red wood as the tree. The six descended deeper into the tree looking for the throne room.
