Epilogue

989 Words

Epilogue After a pleasant afternoon of family talk and a peaceful overnight at the farm, Cuthan and Mary Strobaw departed on Sunday bound for the Mead, promising to return soon with my uncles and a load of quarried rock to rebuild my overhanging porch. Rachel Ann accompanied them as far as Yanube City, taking Ides and the baby with her. My sister had told me she and Gideon decided to adopt the infant Weathers girl. Rachel Ann found something in the clothing of the infant with a misspelled name that likely was intended to be Estelle, so she would live with the name Estelle Weathers Haleworthy. Ides pretended to be ambivalent about the idea, but it was clear he was delighted to have a new sister. I feared he and Ethan would sometimes butt heads when vying for the attention of the babe.
