But it was all superficial really, the whole election process a formality as Charles had long since been declared the winner in the eyes of those who mattered most—the power brokers, the elite, the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes. The campaign had been meticulously orchestrated, every move calculated to perfection, leaving nothing to chance, she made sure of it.
