Diner!!

We get to the diner that's a five minute walk up the street. I haven't been here before, but I love trying new places. We seat ourselves and our waitress Doris hands us menu's. Doris doesn't look happy to be here whatsoever with her lipstick frown and pissy attitude. I try my best to perk up her day and I compliment her blue eyes and poofy hair.
"I always wanted to do my hair like that, but I never could find the right hairspray. Which do you use?"
Trying my best not to sound sarcastic with my question, but she wasn't having it and said,
"It's a wig now what do ya'll want?"
"Can we get a few minutes, first timers here!" I ask and she rolls her eyes and walks away.
"Monday I guess?" John says and shrugs and we go to look at our menus.
After quite some deliberation I decide on biscuits and gravy.
John decides on waffles and a hash brown. Doris is less than enthused by our banter. She does keep our drinks refilled which that alone will get her a good tip. Just keep my cup full and I’m a happy camper.
“So, what are we gonna do about Eric?” John asks with a mouthful of waffle.
“I’m not sure. It’s honestly scary how he won’t leave me alone.”
“Exactly why you should have just moved in with me.”
“I know, but I don’t feel we are at that point in our relationship and I just don’t want to ruin it cause I’m having issues.” I tell him scared of his reaction.
“I understand, but I just want you safe. I already love you and no matter what happens that cannot be undone babe.” He says with the most loving look and squeezes my hand.
“Love?!” I ask. We haven’t said that to each other yet. I had already fallen for him, but didn’t want to be the first to say it. I’m kind of stubborn like that.
“Yeah baby, I’m whole heartedly in love with you!!”
“I love you too.” I tell him with tears in my eyes. This is crazy, I’ve never felt like this before.
“I know you do.” John said and winked at me.
“Of course you do,” I say with a smirk and throw my straw wrapper at him.
