Chapter 33

THE RESURRECTION Ferno Andilet "I declare, from now on, you will be the mightiest human in Hadessian." My eyes were still closed when those words tickled my ears. I knew I was asleep, but my mind was alive. It was happening now— the most special day of my life. A loud, tiny sound of glitters, aroused in the whole place of Figan as Gandor placed his heart in mine. The light it was producing ruled all over the area, that it was also peeking through my closed eyes. Figan was the home of Gandor that was under the lake. It was like a small room, but everything was already in it— peace, power, and happiness. After some time, it became quiet again. When I opened my sight, the red dragon's face greeted me. I was just looking at him stupidly, still thinking of what he just did to me. I felt renewed. My body was filled with strength, and my mind was occupied by wisdom. I got up from the bedrock I was lying on and stood firmly to Gandor who was still grinning at me. "And I declare, starting this day, we will rule the world," I said, smirking at the dragon. Gandor expressed a strong shout of victory and released fire from his mouth as he flew in the air in a circular motion. On the other hand, I could not stop laughing evilly while thinking of the future I would hold. I already had the power that no Hadessian could have. No one could no longer stop me from doing the things I wanted, since I was the most significant creation in this entire land. I roamed around while looking at my palms that were shining. I pointed it out to the tree next to me to test it. A wide beam touched my lip the time I made the roots disconnect from the ground; I lifted the whole tree and let it stay in the air. The power had its hundred percent of legitimacy. I could use it for everyone and everything. I could control the wind, the waves of the ocean, the animals, and every creation of this world. I could even kill a person in just one hit as long as I wanted. "How do you feel about it, Ferno?" Gandor asked as he went down. "I can see you're overwhelmed." "Really, Gandor. I can't imagine I have now this incredible strength. No one can hurt me anymore." "That's for sure! You have rested enough and now, the power is already in you. You are the only resurrected human, with just that, everyone will fear you." "And they will bow their heads to me. They will treat me as the king, and I will reign forever in the darkness!" The two of us laughed wickedly with the strong wind that was also partying with us. After some time, I left the place and went to my locality, where my mother and two sisters were living. I wanted to surprise them with my presence, since they had no idea that I was alive; all they thought was I had been forever buried in my grave. When I arrived at the forest where the house was built, serenity welcomed me. Since our family was the only one who stayed in this secret place, no voice could be heard. I could just feel the whisper of the wind, nothing else more. The door and windows were locked. It was dark inside that it looked like an abandoned house. Though, my family couldn't move out since they had no money to do so. Well, I was used to seeing this kind of home of nigritude. Since my dad was still alive, my mom had already resentment to me. I didn't know why she treated me as a curse of this family; I hadn't done anything wrong to her. Even my two elder sisters— Yoona and Yeri— were mad at me for no reason; however, they could not abuse me, since my dad was there, watching. After years, my life turned upside down. I thought my father would not leave me because he promised me that, but he just did. I cried a river when he died because of sickness. Since that, my life had no meaning anymore. On the other side, my mom and my two sisters had taken advantage of my dad's death. They started carrying me with their heavy hands. Every day, my mom would hurt me in every way she could— slapping my cheeks, pinching my arms, kicking my leg, and other kinds of domestic violence. My two older siblings would also twist my ears when they had the chance. The three of them didn't get enough of badmouthing me. They kept on telling me that I didn't deserve to live because all I had brought to them was unlucky things. There was this day that mom was about to stab me with the knife she was holding, for the reason that I made mistake with slicing the vegetable she told me to do. Since my siblings were not around, I had taken the chance to escape from her and run to the lake, where I used to go whenever I felt alone. I was wailing so hard there. I thought Mom would catch me, but gladly, I had made a way where she couldn't see me. It was almost my end, but when Gandor showed up there, I had a glimpse of little hope. Starting that day, I was always visiting the lake because of him. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. After a minute, I heard my mother's voice coming on the way, asking who was out there, but I didn't mind answering. As soon as she opened up the door, her eyes widened. "Ferno?" she mouthed, gaping at me. "Hey, Mom, how are you doin'?" I asked, smirking at her. "It's not so much long time no see, eh?" My mother knelt with her legs shaking. Her sweats were running down through her body. She was that surprised, to the point that she could not talk, just stuttering. I sat to level her. "You look so afraid, Mom. Tell me, what makes you tremble horribly?" Presently, tears started to shed down her cheeks. There was something at the end of her tongue that she couldn't speak out. She was just stuck staring at me still, but after some time, she began shouting and calling out for my two sisters. I stood when my siblings came; like my mom, they were also astonished the moment they saw me. The beam continued flashing in my lip seeing their eyes grew big in great fear. "So, what's about those faces, sisters?" I asked the twins. "I'd be glad if that means missing me." Yeri tried running away, but I caught her and brought her to me using my palm. She begged me to let go of her when I placed my hands on her neck; however, I didn't listen and just kept on burking her until she lost her breath. Mom wailed as she hugged her dead daughter. Her face was so red and even her eyes. She looked at me then, planning to attack me; however, before she could touch her hands on me, I already took her neck and lift her. "Is the abuse you've given me ain't enough yet that you're still trying to put your heavy hands on me?" I asked her. "F-ferno..." she stuttered, trying to please me to put her down before she could follow Yeri's quietus. "And now you're asking me for pardon? When I begged you to stop hurting me, did you listen? No. So, you must suffer, Mom." My mother wasn't able to speak more when death finally took her. Her head broke when I let go of her, causing the tiles to be filled with blood. I was about to kill Yoona next, but she disappeared from my sight. I roamed to every corner of the house, but I failed to find her. I believed she ran away and that she wasn't yet getting far. Nonetheless, I did not bother following her. I would let her live and feel the dread as she tried to hide from me for every second of her life. "I think we should go now, Ferno." I was interrupted by that voice that came from Gandor. Little did I know that he would follow me here. So, I walked to the door and met him there. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I just came here to fetch you," he answered. "Have you kill them all?" I shook my head. "Yoona has escaped." The red dragon's eyes burned. "And you just let that happen? Why didn't you follow her?" "Was about to follow her, but I think it will be more interesting if I'll make her suffer first. Just let her run away and get tired of hiding from me." "But, you'll eventually kill her, right?" I nodded. "But if she died in fear, it's not my problem anymore." "I'm proud of you, Ferno," Gandor smiled. "You've done it well. You are so brave." "I thank you for all of these. I will not be this strong if not because of you. Now, I have taken revenge, finally." "I see you're ecstatic." "Sure, I am. I've been holding this pain for long years. I just won't let them live and have a happy ending. They don't deserve it." "Well, now, can you ride at my back? We are going. Just come back for your sister Yoona after some days. You'll be surprising Ragwarths tomorrow." The soft wind touched my skin as I started to fly together with Gandor. While meeting the sky, I could not halt myself from grinning. The happiness in me couldn't be explained by any word. My heart was overwhelming with glee, knowing that I had passed this mission. After killing Mom and Yeri, I felt like a bird that was freed. It was an easy task; I didn't even feel any guilt. In the first place, why would I? After some time of flying, we finally arrived back at Figan. As I took my rest, excitement shook my spine. I could not wait to see the academy, especially that one special girl whom I'd always wanted to see.
