Chapter 47

ALEERA VERNIZE It was an unending topic. Ferno's horrible encounter in his family was always creeping in my mind, especially that he started opening up this again to me. I thought I would be able to confront him about his last question to me, but I was mistaken. I couldn't speak, I was just looking at him. But in my mind, I could see him now as a criminal. I knew what he did was a fruit of resentment; it wasn't self-defense but an act of selfish revenge. I empathize with him before for what he suffered, but I pity him even more now that he chose his emotion to rule over him. He would forever be a culprit. Planning ways to segue, I took a food and continued eating. After tasting it, I told him how delicious it was, but honestly, I didn't like it that much; fortunately, he replied to it. I was thinking he already forgot his question, but to my surprise, he repeated it. "I am not in your place to judge your experience," I just told him. Ferno bowed his head a bit. "Sorry for asking, though. I was just curious of what and how you think of me and see me as a person." "You care too much about how other people find you." "Is it bad to overthink of them?" "Ain't a sin, but bad to your health. You should stop thinking of them, and start focusing on yourself." What I told him was true to my heart. I didn't lie because I wanted him to give a piece of proper advice, expecting he would change himself through my words. There was still a sun, so there was still hope; however, when he still would choose to reign his dark side and plan, I would be willing to fight. Going back, Ferno was indeed the person who was obsessed with other's opinions towards him, and that was why he ended up killing his own family. He focused too much on people, but still, he couldn't be blamed for his experience. It was just that he did wrong in reacting to those encounters. "I do focus now on myself," Ferno smirked, which made me stop eating. His grin was a sign of how he was passionate about speaking out those words. He said a different kind of paying attention to self— it was a wicked thing. Sure, putting yourself first didn't mean being selfish only when you had a good and proper purpose, but when you use it for putting people at stake, you were on the wrong track. And Ferno was the right definition of egoistic. After that, I did not talk again. I just finished up eating all the food on the table, so I could now invite him to go back to school. I didn't see yet my best friend Ferelith, so I needed to arrive there as fast as I could, especially that my second class was coming. Unfortunately, Ferno didn't agree to come with me. He said he still had something very important to do; I guessed going with him would give me more detailed information, so I asked him if he would like me to be with him still, but he didn't permit me, unluckily. "You want to go to Ragwarths now, don't you?" Ferno asked. I nodded. "But, I want you to come with me. And since you don't want to, I'll just be the one to go with you." "It's a private thing. Just go back to Ragwarths. I'll be escorting you there." "If you say so." Ferno did send me to the academy, but left right after; however, I made a way to follow him. Using Invis and the Hufana leaf potion, I flew, chasing his car. I could fly with the wind because of the magic ruby necklace Namika gave me. With this, I would be able to reach the clouds and breathe underwater. Namika was a gift to me indeed. She could do anything. With just the use of her magic and spells, she could even defeat our enemies. Her powers were actually good and full of strength; the most significant part was, they could last longer. I was still flying, but to my surprise, Ferno's car had already disappeared from my sight. I didn't know how did it happen, I just blinked my eyes! I roamed my eyes everywhere, but I failed to find him. I even flew faster, thinking he got too far yet from me; however, I was wrong. Ferno and his car really vanished of a sudden. Did it mean he also has magical powers like me? Did he use tricks to disappear? I immediately called Namika using the mini telephone in my pocket and the earpiece made of woods she gave me, informing her of what I had witnessed. "Where are you?" she asked. "About six kilometers from Ragwarts. I don't know what they call this town," I responded. "You really can't see the young boy, eh?" "No. I already wandered my eyes all around, but he's not there. He popped out like a bubble, and I don't know where he is now." "Just be watchful. Ferno is just everywhere. He might be using his magic as well." "So, it's real." "Uh-huh. He's probably invisible now like you. You really can't look for him in that way. But, I'm not sure if he can still see you. I don't know yet how his power works, so you better be careful and we'll be finding this out." "Sure, I will." "I think, you should go back to Ragwarths now," Namika suggested. "We are still not sure of this condition, so stop following him for now. One failure will ruin everything." "Alright, I will head now to the school. But, where are you?" "I'm here at your house." I puckered my eyebrows while flying back to the academy. "And what are you doing there?" "I am looking for something that could be helpful for you to know more of your resurrection." My eyes widened. "Okay, so what now? Should I go there as well?" "No. Stay in Ragwarths, and I'll be fetching you there after this. When we are already in the mansion, I'll tell you everything." I concurred with her after ending the call. As commanded, I went back to Ragwarths and abruptly headed to the room to not be late for the next class. But as I walked through the hallway, to my surprise, Ferno was there, smirking at me and said, "Sorry, I guess I forgot something."
