~Lendel
A gazillion thoughts crossed my mind all at the same time. Having so many things to do all at the same time is quite frustrating.
I had to prepare for my wedding and my Father’s all at the same time. Father had insisted he would have his wedding on my wedding day.
Getting married to Kayla was the last thing I had ever imagined. Kayla was every man's dream. Strong, beautiful, and courageous, she was indeed the definition of perfection for any man but me.
I never wanted her but I had no choice. Father had insisted I get married to her because she is the daughter of his best friend.
I was nothing but an object of Union to Father and I did not disagree with it.
“Lendel, breakfast is ready. Everyone is waiting for you” My brother, Austyn called out to me as he popped his head, peeping into my room.
A frown formed on my face as I felt the urge to paint that minute but I did not want to. I was tired of being tormented by the woman in my head. I was tired of seeing this woman every day and drawing her.
I had torn every painting of her that I had. I did not want to see her anymore.
I nodded and walked out almost immediately as I was so upset. I had no idea why I was upset by the woman whom I continually saw in my dream or if I was upset at myself or perhaps, the wedding.
I strode down the stairs gently, watching the maid gossip and giggle as they saw me walk by.
Of course, I was one hell of a fine wine. Six feet tall, with porcelain skin, emerald eyes, perfectly carved brows, and a wide shoulder any woman would want to come into any day, I was proud of myself.
“Good morning, Father” I greeted, a frown on my face as I took my position which was directly opposite Father. To my left was my brother; Austyn and by his side was my third one of us; Kovan.
Although the three of us are triplets, we were so different from each other, character-wise.
The only similarity we shared was our faces. There were still differences though.
To my right was my proposed bride; Kayla. I rolled my eyes as I tried to avoid looking at her.
“Good morning, my Alpha” Kayla greeted softly as she placed her hand on mine.
I was quick to withdraw my hands from hers even though I tried to pretend like it was not on purpose.
I could see the smile on her face dissipated into thin air and I was not bothered.
Father observed it and frowned.
“Your wedding is in a couple of days now. I am so happy for you both” Father commended.
Austyn on the other hand was quiet. He looked very sad and I could tell he was not happy.
He had found his mate three weeks ago but she turned out to be an Omega.
One of the maids in our pack and even though he loved her so much, Father would never agree to such a union. He hated them so much and would not hesitate to tell him to reject her just like he did not give me the chance to find mine before imposing on me.
“And so is yours. “ I smiled. “By the way, who is she? The daughter of an Alpha? “ I questioned as I folded my hands.
He had always talked about getting married although he did not inform us who she is or what pack she is from.
I knew absolutely nothing about our soon-to-be stepmother.
“That is a discussion for another day. You are the younger ones we should talk about. I believe all the preparations are being made, right, Kovan?” He questioned, looking very pleased.
Just the expression I had expected from her. She giggled and nodded, making Father smile. It got me even more upset.
“Excuse me, Father” Austyn stood up and tried to leave but as usual…..
“Sit down and have your breakfast” Father responded almost immediately.
Leaving the dining table before Father completes his meal was unacceptable to him.
Kovan on the other hand was all smiles as he was excited about his soon-to-be 'sister-in-law'.
He was the only one left out. Father had not chosen a bride for him. it did not matter though as he was in support of all of Father's decisions. He loved Father so much more than any of us did.
“I will be going on a journey. For business purposes. I will be leaving this pack in your care. I trust you, Lendel.
Ensure security is always tight. No one must attack us” Father ordered.
He was always going on business trips. To build more relationships he would claim. What Alpha is he going to meet this time?
“I wish you a wonderful journey, my Alpha” Kayla bowed.
“Thank you so much. Ensure you all stay safe. I will be back in a couple of days” Father informed. “I have to leave now”
He stood up and walked away from us.
Austyn stood up almost immediately, looking so upset while my brother stayed with his 'best friend’, discussing the wedding.
“Hold on, brother. What is the matter?” I questioned as I ran after Austyn. He didn’t look okay. Was there something else bothering him?
Austyn headed to his room while I followed. “You know you can always talk to me” I placed my hand on his shoulder, hoping he would be calm.
He looked up at him and tears formed in his eyes. He looked so sad.
“Why can we not have a life of our own? Why do we have to live like slaves? Even maids and guards love who they want with no disturbance.
Look at you, you are getting married to a woman you do not love because Father said so. I cannot even bring my mate out of where she stays and bring her here or show her to Father because she is an Omega yet I love her.
I cannot continue living like this, brother. I will find a way to escape with her. I cannot have my child in that dump she stays in” He turned his back to me.
I let out a sigh as I had no idea what to say. I could tell he was hurt and I was hurt as well but what could we do?
“We will find a way around it before she gets pregnant.”
“She is already carrying my pup!” He yelled. Wait what?
Slowly, the door pushed open and…. Oh no.
