I feel so small in a place like this. There is soft music. Rich faces. Beauty. Power. Everything is in one place.
My eyes search for the familiar face of my sister but she is not in the hall. Perhaps, the Alpha has her caged somewhere in the house or somewhere else.
My heart thumps against my ribcages as Noah makes his way through the crowd. I turn my back to people and open my clutch before hiding the small vial bottle in my palm and then sipping it all down. Bitterness burns down my throat as I look around to see if anyone noticed my move.
I am too insignificant for these people and so, no one is paying me attention which I am grateful for.
I place the empty bottle back into the clutch and take some deep breaths to calm myself down. Now my scent is suppressed and the sound of my rapid heartbeats is covered due to the suppressor so I don’t have to be nervous about others noticing how fast my heart is beating or how much fear my aura radiates.
I straighten up and face the direction where Noah went. He is standing a few steps away from a man now. I can tell he is waiting for the man to stop talking so he can talk to him.
Alpha Kieran King. My heart pounds in my chest. The safety of the knife strapped to my thigh doesn’t help the shiver of dread that washes over me after watching him from the back.
He is huge, bigger than the guards I saw at the gate. His height is something around 6’4 or 6’5. However, he is on the lean muscular side and is not a bulky buff like his guards. His shoulders stretch as he moves his hands when talking to the people in front of him.
My heart misses a beat as something tingly sets on my skin. I grip the sides of my dress, waiting for him to turn around and ignore the tingles.
“ Alpha. ” Noah calls him when he doesn’t turn to him even after a while.
My breathing quickens as he slowly throws a scowl over his shoulder. I have seen my fair share of men, handsome, big, strong but something about him makes me uneasy.
His grey eyes are so dark that for a moment, I think, they are black. His black hair is set back with gel, giving a view of the broad forehead. My gaze travels lower to his straight nose that flares before I steal a glance at the pair of lips on him, thick, soft, and set in a cruel line.
He turns around completely, not aware of my eyes on him. I take in his black suit and the white shirt underneath it. When he moves, the shirt stretches to the limit, struggling to keep the strong muscles hidden. He is tall, has a rod up his spine, and has an aura that makes my knees tremble with something I don’t quite understand.
My wolf whines in my head weakly, surprising me. She rarely communicates with me, because she is an omega and she is weak. I have blamed her too much for it in the past and she hates me for it.
“ Not now, Noah. ” Alpha Kieran King speaks and my stomach quivers. His voice is silk and darkness - - - soft, and hard.
Noah goes silent but I can’t afford to look at him right now. The man before me turns around and faces the people he is talking to before he excuses himself and starts walking away.
My eyes follow his long legs and his powerful stride before I snap out of the daze. Noah walks back to me.
“ Alpha is busy- - - ”
“ I need to use the restroom. ” I tell him before he can finish giving me excuses.
“ It’s on the right- - - ”
I don’t wait to hear what he has to say. I move to the left, in the direction where I see the Alpha leave. I try my best to keep my footsteps light but it’s impossible in these six inches heels.
When I am out of sight of the people gathered in the hall, I bend down and remove my heels. My heartbeat accelerates as I pick them up and start running on my toes to catch up to that Alpha.
He takes a left. I don’t get the time to see the beauty around me as I take a sharp left. He is far ahead of me and takes a right this time. I slow down and try to breathe through my nose as I round the corner.
A closed door stares back at me right around the corner. I pause, calming my heart down.
Silently, I place the heels on the floor. My hand goes inside the clutch and I retrieve my single leather glove. I wear it on my right hand and bunch my dress to the side before unstrapping the silver knife from the leather holder. I eye the silver for a moment and then push my hand behind my back.
I have to kill him. He is an a-hole despite being sinfully beautiful like the rest of his world.
My heart twists at the thought. I don’t understand the sudden pain so I shake it off.
Maybe, for a moment, I was happy that my sister was with a Greek God-like man but his personality won’t make up for the perfection he is on the outside. I wish it did. Eliana would have been so happy in a fantasy like this.
My eyes burn at the thought before I steel my nerves and slowly grab the big stylish golden handle. My fingers tremble before I push the door open and peek inside.
He is standing in the corner, in front of the open terrace door, talking to someone on the phone. The jacket is lying on the huge bed while the white shirt is on full display.
Swallowing the nervousness, I quietly step inside. He won’t notice me until my knife is in his heart, I tell myself as I tiptoe closer to him.
The nearer I get to him, the more my stomach twists into knots, my mouth waters, and every muscle in my body clenches. Even the muscles between my thighs start tingling which shouldn’t happen in the first place.
Just a few more steps and the knife will be where it belongs.
I cover the distance between our bodies. My heart rises into my throat with each step forward. I shudder when I am one step away and he pushes the phone away from his ear.
All my senses go onto high-alert mode. I stop, hold my breath, and wait for him to continue.
“ I will take care of her. You stay back. ” He places the phone back before he hangs up for good.
I take my hand out from my back and raise it in the air. My fingers tremble inside the leather glove. Sweat trickles between my breast valley, making my breath hitch.
“ A knife? Are you kidding me? ” His sinful voice fills the space, causing my hold to loosen around the knife.
In the next blink of my eyes, I am pinned against the glass door of the terrace and the knife is lying on the floor somewhere close to the giant’s foot. His right hand is on my wrists, caging them above my head and restraining me with the rest of his body. While his other hand rests on the wall leisurely.
My body reacts before my mind does. I try to kick him away, but he wedges his firm and thick thigh between my legs and pushes his knee up against my tingling core. The slit in my dress bunches the fabric aside, and his knee connects with my panties, hard. My breath whooshes out of my lungs as my gaze jumps to the pair of dangerous eyes peering back at me.
The anger in me collides with the storm in his eyes. The world ceases to matter.
A moment passes. His scent fills my nostrils. He smells like deep woods on a rainy night. Mysterious. Dangerous. Enchanting.
His touch consumes me next and makes all my nerves light up.
“ You are my- - - Mate. ” I moan, feeling his knee rubbing my p***y.
