"I've never seen your mother before, Avena," Siena said then, the intent to make Avena uncomfortable just as Avena had made her.
It worked.
Avena looked mildly embarrassed. "She doesn't stay here as you well know," Avena responded. "But we keep in touch. We talk."
"Why did she leave?" Siena asked.
Avena blinked a few times and it dawned on Siena that Avena would know something about why her mother was kicked out of DiAmbrossi mansion and Sicily by Ricci. Since mother and daughter still kept in touch, it was possible that Avena's mother must have hinted at the reason she left DiAmbrossi mansion.
"I don't know," Avena said, blinking rapidly as she said this. "Probably, she wanted to travel out. Maybe she wanted a change of environment."
Siena's face bore the smallest hint of a smile
