Chapter 7

960 Words
Darkness overtook the world. Engulfing it with darkness. She didn't mind the dark. It generally meant peacefulness. It was a time you could murmur your secrets and cry without anyone seeing you. It was a time to sleep. To close your eyes and hope that you could live in your dreams, however much of a lie they are, they usually were much better than the reality. ******* The banquet ended with Kaito still sniffing and Yukino's father asking what in the world happened and why Kaito was crying. Thankfully Kaito said it was nothing and he was allergic to some things and had accidentally eaten it. Yukino and Taiyo's father thankfully didn't push it and simply smiled at the young boy apologetically. After the banquet, Yukino flopped onto the bed and buried her face into the soft blankets. Inhaling large amounts of air before she turned around so she was laying on her back. Yukino stared at the ceiling before closing her eyes to sleep.  Kami, still in necklace form, thankfully didn't wake her up that night for the first time in three years. The reason was unknown but Yukino was going to relish this night forever. The next day it was the awakening ceremony. The ceremony will be held from dawn to dusk and Yukino was forcefully dragged out of bed. "Let me sleep…" Yukino groaned into her tail she was currently hugging. Taiyo the person who was assigned to pull Yukino out of bed sighed. "Yukino, do you really want to sleep through one of my most important days? I'll make sure to never allow you to use my tail as a pillow." At this statement Yukino reluctantly opened her eyes and sat up.  She looked around and out the window to see that the sun has yet to rise. "Brother! It's not even bright out yet! And! You! Woke! Me! Up!" Her hands itched to punch her brother but she knew it wasn't going to land. Taiyo smiled at Yukino and called Karin to help Yukino dress. In an hour everything was done. The rest of the family walked towards the palace halls once again and this time was met with the sight of thousands of people bustling outside the palace gates. Since the awakening ceremony was held for anyone and everyone that could make it many people make the expensive journey. The poorer ones stayed on their Clan's territory and the awakening people will also be at their largest city to awaken them. In a couple of minutes, the ceremony began. Another hundred people walked in, wearing maroon cloaks that covered their faces. "Who are they?" Yukino asked Kami who was still in necklace form. "Are they a fraud?" Yukino asked suspiciously. Yukino just casually shrugged while Kami sighed with exasperation wanting to smash her master's head. How can such an idiotic person exist? "Welcome everyone to the awakening ceremony. Like always the royals shall go first and then all the rest may go right after." The dragon king announced, his words were followed with a huge applause. The royals all walked toward the podium and onto the stage.  Royals were awakened with everyone watching. "First off the fourth prince of the Dragon Clan!" One of the maroon cloaked people said. A boy walked up and stood in the middle of the stage, and the magic circle. The maroon cloaked men then started to chant gibberish.   Kami who can read Yukino's thought immediately told her that the gibberish was the holy language, noting to bash Yukino's head after the ceremony was over and they were back at the Fox Palace. Because of Kami's scolding, Yukino missed every other royal until her brother was called. Finally. He was the last one. Taiyo walked confidently up into the center of the stage. He stared ahead with a small smile and Yukino waved at him, which he returned. The maroon men once again started speaking gibber- uh, the holy language and brother started screaming. "Was everyone else screaming as well??" Yukino watched with horror as she never heard her brother ever scream. "I was trying to calm you down before I look like a crazy person!" Yukino shifted her attention back to her brother as he calmed down. She watched in amazement as her brother glowed as he changed into a beautiful black fox. When he opened his eyes they shone a onimus red. A red symbol was imprinted onto his forehead. It was like a trident with any extra lines. Taiyo once again started glowing as he turned into a complete human form that didn't have a tail or fox ears. Then he once again changed into his usual form. Half human and half fox.  "Fire and lighting, 90!" Everyone burst into an applause including Yukino. "Did everyone also clap afterwards too?" At this point Kami has given up on poor Yukino. Her master was too… detached from the mundane world. "You may now help the others." The dragon king announced and with this announcement, people started to frantically rush into the line. The hundred maroon people each had their own lines, bit each line had at least 100 people. "I feel bad for the people at the end of the line." Yukino said to Kami, as she sympathetically looked at the people. Then Yukino thought of something else. "What did that mean? The 90." "What's the highest number?" "Since I'm reincarnated and have cheats will I get a 100." "You suck." The conversation died there, Yukino looked at the people being awaken when she once again thought of something. "Those people aren't transforming.." "You don't know something??" And the two started to bicker once again.
