The next morning, the couple hurried to sign the lease on their apartment in Bayeux, and by that afternoon they began moving the furniture in. “Watch out!” Nick shouted as he maneuvered a queen-sized mattress up yet another flight of stairs. A downstairs neighbor, who had poked his nose out the door to see what the commotion was about, retreated in a hurry as Nick made his way past.
