CHAPTER 2 At 5:45 the next evening, Breanne, dressed in a pair of khaki trousers, a sleeveless blouse, and her favorite summer sandals, paced nervously in the dormitory lobby, waiting for Nicolas to arrive. “Calm down,” Michelle nagged from her perch on the torn vinyl sofa. “You're making me nervous.” Breanne's regarded the room, without seeing the whitewashed walls littered with notices, the wrinkled, stained linoleum, and the green, netted table in the corner, where two male undergraduates were attempting to murder each other with ping pong balls.
