The weather was perfect. I took Nero's leash and called him to come with me. I exhaled slowly as I walked between the rows of vines. The gravel crunched under my shoes, marking a steady, almost mechanical rhythm. I tried to avoid thinking about why Bianca hadn't come down for dinner. "It's not my problem. It's not my responsibility," I repeated once more. A sound broke the serenity of my walk, making Nero and me stop.
