For the next two weeks, Linda was far from my mind as I tried to rein in a travel department, which really consisted of two full time employees and a bunch of stringers literally from Murphy to Manteo. I spent more time on the phone doing conference calls to clarify deadlines, adjust assignments, and make sure every minor festival got their proper mention in the magazine than writing stories or editing copy.
