My Sister Is Not The Bride

~Chapter 6~ Oh Sister!

"You... " I was too stunned to speak. She let herself in and I followed, like I was the intruder. "What a way to welcome a sister you haven't seen for seven months, Luna. The award for the best sister goes to you!" She said, making gestures with her hands. "No... Sorry... Welcome, I mean.... what are you doing here Laura?!" I didn't know what to say. I was so surprised she came unannounced -not even a text. Besides why did she come? We haven't even spoken in those 'Seven months'. I even sent mails to her the first 4 months, which she didn't respond to, and so I sort of, gave up. And now she here, like nothing happened? Typical Laura. "I missed my sister, that's why I'm here. Or am I not welcomed here?" She turned back to face me. My head processing my plans for Daniel and her presence. Everything was wrong. She didn't even know about me and him. No no no! What would happen if she finds out? "Huh, uhm.... I mean yes, yes you're welcomed here. I was just wondering why you came unannounced... I mean you could have sent a text." I checked the time on my watch and it was 1pm. I barely had enough time left to prepare 'Tinola'. It was a complex dish that requires time and focus. I better reschedule with Daniel, which will break his heart, but I had no choice. Laura was literally in my room right now, there's absolutely no way I'm letting her ruin this for me. "Look Luna, we're sisters. We don't need to give each other heads up before dropping by each other's place." I looked at her in anger, my blood boiling through my veins. She's not the one to say that. Now she's my sister? No, she's definitely onto something, and it's no good. "Laura you didn't respond to any of my mails or texts to you!" "That's just cause I was busyyyy. I was too occupied with school activities to even open any of my mails or texts." "Laura you posted everyday on Snapchat. Your socials were very much active. You posted once and I sent you a message one minute, Laura one minute after you posted and you didn't reply. What's that called?!" There was a lot on my mind to be be said, but I have to text Daniel soon, so he knows we can't meet anymore today. "Luna chill, it's not that deep. I was preoccupied, and I'm sorry about that." "Oh you're sor- " just then my phone rang. I gasped when I saw the caller - it was Daniel. Laura strained her eyes to see who the caller was and I rushed to grab my phone on the bed. "Who is that?" She asked, curious to know who the caller was. "It's nobody! Why don't you mind your business and tell me what you're here for." I said sharply. The phone rang again and I hung up. I had to call him back soon, or Daniel will get worried and come rushing to the hostel.

"Ohhh, my little sister now got a boyfriend, isn't that just great? Who is he? Is he someone I know?" She asked, looking suspiciously at me.

"No... He's not!" I said sharply again. "And I'd really appreciate it if you minded your business." I watched as her eyes became more curious. "Fine. I'll mind my business. Anyways, I came to Quezon for work and I'll be staying her for a week." " For a week?!!! " I was alarmed by what she just said. I can't have her here while Daniel is still here. That was not going to happen. "Yes, one week. So you have a problem with that?" My phone rang again. Daniel was getting worried, I was sure. "Well, I'm sure you got an apartment, or an hotel or anything... right?" I needed her to say yes right now. "No I didn't, and you should probably take that call, it might be important." Her attention diverted to my phone again. "I said mind your business! I'll be back, you wait right here Laura!" I moved to the kitchen to call Daniel.

"Luna, what's the matter, I've been calling you non stop, are you okay? Are you sick? Did I do something wrong? Was it my messages? Talk to me Luna, why're you silent?" He wasn't even letting me talk. "We'll I'd answer these questions if you'd let me talk." "Oh, I'm sorry, my bad. So what happened?" I looked back to confirm Laura was still sat on the sofa, and she was. "Daniel, Laura is in Quezon." "What?! Your sister's in the city? Why? How?" He acted more shocked than I was.

"I don't know Daniel, she's literally in my room as we speak." I spoke in a low tone. "Well, she's leaving soon, isn't she? She's not going to be a problem, right?" "I wish that were the case, but she's here for one week Daniel, ONE WEEK!" this wasn't happening right now. "Calm down, Luna. It's not entirely that bad. I mean she has her moments, but she's still your sister." He doesn't get it does he? "Daniel, you know how Laura feels about you, don't you? How can we manage when she's right here in our faces, for a week?! It's going to be awkward. She's not planning on staying in an hotel. And ... Daniel, I don't trust her. She could jeopardize our relationship. Daniel I'm scared." I was genuinely scared of whatever Laura had up her sleeves. Me and Daniel were finally getting our lives together, and building a strong foundation for our relationship - we don't need obstacles at this point in our lives. "Luna, don't be. It's just me and you. Nothing's ever going to come between us, not even your sister. I am for you, as you are for me." Daniel had a way with words. He was always blowing my mind with the things he says sometimes. How'd he come up with the phrase 'I am for you, as you are for me?' I blushed hard. "I know Daniel, and I trust you. It's just... " "Say no more. I'm coming to get you tomorrow and she'd have to accept that you are mine and I am yours, and there's nothing she can do about it." Tomorrow? Right in front of Laura? Oh dang it! I hope everything doesn't backfire. Laura doesn't take these things lightly. "Okay, Daniel. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight." I hung up the call- dreading the thought of tomorrow.

We spent the rest of the day in an awkward silence. I was closely watching her every move.

The next day came - all I could do was wait for the shocker we were about to give you Laura. I grew more nervous as time passed. Laura was literally in my business the whole time, as if trying to know the person I was expecting. I got dressed and Laura's curiosity increased. "Well aren't you dressed up nice? What's the occasion Luna, expecting someone?" Her ears stood as she heard a knock at the door. "Oh someone's at the door, probably your boyfriend. I'll go get the door... " She ran quickly towards the door. "No, I'll get it." I said running behind her. She reached before me and her mouth went wide open when she realized who was at the door. "D-D-Daniel Antonio?!" She said in bewilderment. "It's my apartment, I said I'll get the door!" I snapped at her. She was still in great shock. "Hi baby." Daniel said and walked past her to hug me. 'Baby?' He's never called me that. Was this some exaggerated drama Daniel had up his sleeves? Whatever that was, I was here for it. "B-b-baby?!!! She looked at us in disbelief. "Hey pumpkin." I replied and gave him a kiss on the lips. Pumpkin was the wildest pet name I could think of right now. The kiss though, was done out of reflex.

"Wait, what now? Wait wait wait, hold on a sec? What's going on here?!!!" Laura asked, burning in anger and confusion. "Baby? Pumpkin? When did all of this start?!" Daniel pushed me even closer to himself. "Oh hi Laura. I didn't see you there. When did you arrive? My baby didn't tell me you were around." Again with the baby - Daniel was definitely going to be the end of Laura. "I should be asking you that, I thought you were in the United States. What are you doing in the Philippines?" She tried to brush off her jealousy. "Well, that's not what's important. The most important thing is that I'm here now, and I'm here for your sister." He looked at me and winked, making it obvious for Laura to see. "Yes, Laura. Daniel and I are together now. We've been together for a while, and it's... pretty serious." I said this, hoping she'd get the message and eliminate any thought of her being with him, in her head. "Uhmm, what a bummer... I mean I'm quite surprised. I leave my sister for seven months and it's seems like it's been seven years already. Y'all had timeee!" She said, trying to guilt trip me indirectly. "Well, you know how time passes when you're with the love of your life, that's what happened with us." He said, his eyes still fixated on me. "I should have informed you, if you had at least responded to your mails and texts, and phonecalls... " " Uhmm Luna, don't you think you shouldn't be saying all these while our guest is here?" Our guest? "Not your guest, My guest! And besides, Daniel is no guest anymore, he's my boyfriend." A part of me just wanted to say it to Laura as it is. I wasn't scared of her tantrums anymore. We were no longer in high school. "B-b-boyfriend?!!!" She said in an alarmed tone. "Yes, boyfriend. Everyone's pretty aware about it, except you." I said. "So we're formally telling you now- we're now two people with one soul. We're Ying and Yang, inseparable as ying-yang. As there's no Ying without a Yang, there's no Luna without a Daniel. Ours souls are intertwined. This is no ordinary love, this is an unbreakable love. No force is stronger than our force. She completes me and i complete her." He raised my hand in his, deliberately showing her the ying-yang rings on our fingers. This man makes me fall harder and harder in love with him. That was a beautiful description of our love, I'd never compromise this for anything. "Whoa, that's... uhmm, that's nice." She said, forcing a dry smile. I could see her fist clench, her body language changing.

"Come on Luna, we don't have time on our side. Remember, we have to spend as much time as we can together. And you sure do not intend on staying indoors, looking like my poison" I looked up at him and held his cheeks. His new dictions today were throwing me off. What does he mean by 'His poison'. This was it's peak. We must leave here soon before more unravels from his mouths. "Daniel you know I'm all dressed up for you. I'll go wherever you take me to." My plan didn't work today, but I'd do it some other day. I'm happy I got this off my chest. Laura needed to be put in her place. I just hope she doesn't try to do anything impulsive. "Bye Laura." She couldn't believe what she had just seen. She watched as I got into Daniel's car and waited till the car was no longer in sight. I bet she wished she could break something right now.

"Pretty nice acting 'Baby'? I said, mocking him for the stunt he pulled. "Don't you like it, 'baby'?" He said it again. My cheeks flushed. I was shy now. "Stop it, you play too much." I laughed so hard. "What about you, 'pumpkin'? What was that? Do I look like a pumpkin to you? Wrong choice baby, wrong choice. You should take acting classes from me." I thought I was supposed to be the actress here, not him teaching me my job. I have never laughed this hard in my entirely life. Only Daniel could make me feel like this. "I was in awe of your description of our love, it was amazing. I never thought I'd ever find a love like this, but you made this possible, only you, Daniel." I looked at him with love, emotions showing on my face. He hit the breaks. "I love you Luna." He said, looking intensely into my eyes. Love? He just said the 'L' word?! Could this day get any better? I went through a rollercoaster of emotions- sweet emotions. "And I love you even more, Daniel." I said, reaching for his arms. He moved closer to me giving me more access to him. I slowly moved my hand up, to his chest area and felt his heart racing. He grabs my waist and pulls me even closer, holding my cheeks with his other hand. He looks at my lips, and I looked at his too- our pulses pounding in perfect sync. My eyes closed, he leans in and I could feel his lips on mine. He kissed me and I kissed him back- then I slid my hands under his shirt, fumbling to unbotton it. "Hey hey, stop!" He draws back. I was startled. Did I do something wrong? "Why, what happened? Did I hurt you?" "What are you doing... No, we shouldn't... we can't do this." He said. I didn't understand where he was driving at. " What do you mean? What shouldn't we do?" It now dawned on me, what he meant. "Luna, look, you're are very special to me, very delicate... and so I can't have us spoil what we have... by doing this. You deserve all in the the world, you mean more to me than this stupid desire. I don't want this to be the basis of our relationship. I love you and so I'll keep you. I'll keep you till I've made you mine legally. I won't do anything with you until you have made it into my house - as my bride, as my wife."

Words couldn't express how much I loved this man for this. He has me in mind all the time, and he has my best interest at heart. My eyes swelled with tears, i couldn't fathom a love story, if it wasn't with him in it. He chose to preserve me, above his desires. This man is definitely the one.

"Daniel, I'm sorry... I mean I moved too fast, that was wrong. That's because I trust you with my whole body and soul. I have no worries, as long as it's with you. But... Like you said, the goal is way important than the journey, and so I'll wait- we'll wait till the time's right." My eyes sparkled widely as I looked at him. He was too innocent. My pure man. He's a little too good for this world. "Thank you, my love." That sounded so good, and dreamy. "Now let's go. I have a new spot to show you." He squeezed my hands into his and zoomed off.
