Chapter Thirteen

1970 Words
I had to return to my Sakamaki home after shopping with Yui and the Mukamis, but I just can’t seem to sit still with so much happening lately. I skip over to Shu’s room and knock on the door as I open it. Miki: “Shu-nii.” He opens an eye as I shut his door behind me. Shu: “What is it, Miki?” Miki: “I was just wondering if you would like to go somewhere with me. We haven’t spent much time together lately.” He sits up as I approach the bed. Shu: “And just what is it you would like to do?” Miki: “Maybe go sing at the karaoke bar.” Shu: “Miki, why do you like going there so much?” Miki: “Because I do. Are you going to come with me or not? If not, I’ll go by myself.” Shu: “I’ll go with you.” He gets up and hugs me, kissing my lips. When we separate, we teleport to the bar. Going in, I immediately go onstage, dragging Shu with me to sing Demons. When we walk off, I feel a chill run down my spine as I catch a glimpse of the two boys going up next. Shu and I watch the boys sing SOS from our seats. Shu: “We need to leave.” Miki: “I agree.” We leave as fast as we can without drawing attention to ourselves. Unfortunately, the moment we walk out the door, the two are there before us and Shu pushes me behind himself. Shu: “What do you want?” ?: “I have no business with you. I am here for Miki.” ??: “Hand her over.” ?: “Be quiet Shin. That is not why we are here right now.” Shin: “Right, my apologies, Carla.” Shu: “You won’t be taking my sister.” Carla: “Of course not. She will come with us, willingly. However, that is not my aim at this moment.” Miki: “What do you want with me?” Carla: “You will find out soon enough, Miki-san. For now, I will let you say your farewells to the Sakamakis and Mukamis. Soon you will be with us instead. You have five days until we come for you.” Miki: “And what makes you think I would willingly come with you?” Shin: “Because you don’t want us to hurt your brothers.” I glare at them along with Shu. Shu: “She will not be going with you. I suggest you leave.” Carla: “For now, we will. Remember Miki, you have five days. No more, no less.” The two boys disappear while Shu & I teleport to the mansion, informing our brothers what happened. Reiji: “Miki, that place is not safe anymore. You must stay here where we can protect you.” I look down at my lap, sad because I know he’s right, but I don’t want to be stuck in one place. However, this is not the time to be disobedient. Miki: “Yes, Reiji. I promise not to leave the manor.” Subaru: “I don’t know why you ever go there. It’s crawling with idiots.” Miki: “None of you would ever understand my reasons for going there. You are perfectly content staying here forever and forcing me to stay here too. However, knowing the situation, I won’t dare to leave for the week.” I leave the room, going out to the garden, trying to clear my head. I’m just so frustrated that I can’t do anything without their say-so. I can’t even fight them on this decision because it makes complete sense. I stop in my path and look up at the moon. Miki: “Carla and Shin, huh. Why are they so familiar?” ?: “I’m surprised you don’t know that answer.” The voice makes me snap my attention to my right, finding Kino. Miki: “What are you doing here, Kino?” Kino: “I just wanted to see you. Do you still not remember Carla, Shin, and I?” Miki: “I really don’t. It is all a blur. I've had a few confusing dreams that aren’t clearing anything up. They just make me more confused.” He sighs, coming closer to me. Kino: “Well, put it this way, you trusted me once. You were scared to leave my side when you were little. I would and could never hurt you. I don’t want Carla and Shin getting their hands on you.” Miki: “So that wasn’t a dream then. I truly did trust you. How could I forget someone I trusted so much?” Kino: “Our father is just that cruel. He is looking forward to seeing who you will pick though.” Miki: “Pick for what? Why do you and father keep saying that?” He comes closer to me, stopping barely even a whole step in front of me. Kino: “You will know soon enough, little sister. Just don’t forget me this time.” He kisses my forehead. Kino: “Stay safe and get inside.” He disappears, and I sigh before going inside to find Shu on my bed. Shu: “Miki,” Miki: “Shu, why are you in my room?” Shu: “You need me." Miki: “Because of my outburst?” Shu: “Mhm.” He pats the bed beside him, beckoning me to come to him. I sit beside him, laying my head on his chest. Miki: “That bar was the one place I felt like I could let out my emotions whenever I wanted. But now I can’t go back because it’s too dangerous. I’m stuck here, cooped up here. While I love being with you guys, I need a place to be myself.” Shu: “I understand, more than you think.” Miki: “You are the only one I believe truly knows what I mean.” He kisses my forehead. Shu: “The Mukamis are coming here tomorrow to help protect you. We won’t let them take you from us.” I nod, dozing off on his chest. Miki: “I believe you.” I wake up to find Reiji and Shu sitting in my room, looking tense. Miki: "Reiji, Shu, what are you doing in here?" Reiji: "It's been five days. We are guarding you. Yuma and Ruki are guarding outside your room and the others are around the house waiting for an attack." Shu: "You are staying here until it's safe." Miki: "Do you seriously believe I will let you boys get hurt while protecting me? There's no way I would let that happen. I'm going to hand myself over." Reiji: "That is out of the question. We won't allow it." I try to argue, but a cold glare from Reiji shuts me up instantly. I huff before going into my bathroom. Once I have calmed myself, I walk into my room to find Yui waiting for me. I sigh before acknowledging her. Miki: “I’m guessing they thought having you here would change something.” Yui: “Actually, I thought maybe I could cheer you up with some girl time.” Miki: “Unless you can change their minds and stop them from getting hurt, which you can’t, there’s nothing you can do to cheer me up.” Yui: “Well, I can try. Why don’t we try dressing up a bit? I bet that would be fun.” After trying on a few different dresses from my closet, I manage to smile and have a bit of fun till I decide on one of them. Yui: “That one is so pretty. It looks perfect on you.” I blush as I avert my gaze from her. Miki: “Of course it does. That’s why I picked it.” Yui: “Hey, I want to show you something. Follow me.” She grabs my hand and starts pulling me out of my room, where I find out my brothers aren’t guarding my door anymore. I look around, confused where they could be, since they were so insistent on keeping me under constant surveillance. Before I realize it, Yui stops us at the ballroom doors. Miki: “Yui, what are we doing here?” She smiles at me. Yui: “Just go in and see.” She opens the doors for me to reveal my brothers in the center of the room as music starts playing, and they perform Know Under Skin for me. During the song, they managed to get me to dance with them. I clap when they are finished and pull each of them into a hug. Miki: “Thank you. I loved it almost as much as I love you boys.” Ayato: “Of course you did. Yours truly was in it after all.” Laito: “We wanted to make you smile, Little Kitten.” Kanato: “So please, don’t do anything reckless tonight.” Reiji: “This is our way of making up for keeping you from leaving.” Subaru: “Don’t go getting used to this. It won’t happen often.” Shu: “We would do anything to see you happy.” I can see in their eyes just how sincere they are. I huff before responding. Miki: “It’s not as if I can refuse when all of you act like this.” Reiji: "Would you like to sing for us, Darling?" He gestures to the center of the room while he and the others split down the middle, with Kanato, Ayato, and Laito on my left, and Shu, Reiji, and Subaru on my right. Miki: “I would love to. Just sit back and watch.” I confidently walk to the center of the room and perform Everytime We Touch for them. When I finish, I find myself in the middle of my brothers. I can't help but be flustered at their smiles. As I'm about to say something, I hear the sound of shattering glass coming from behind me. I turn around to find wolves invading my home. They start running around us while my brothers are forming a protective circle around me as if they are my shields. Reiji: “Miki, stay behind us.” Shu: “We will protect you.” The wolves snarl at us as two figures appear in the window. One of them giggles sinisterly as they step through, revealing them to be Carla and Shin. Carla: “Let us not waste time. Miki, come with us.” Ayato: “She won’t be going anywhere with you two.” Subaru: “Miki is staying here.” Shin: “Then she will watch you suffer.” The wolves start their attacks on my brothers and, in an effort to not be in their way, I fly up to the chandelier, watching in horror as I find my brothers are losing. I look out the window to see the Mukamis struggling just to get off the ground. I make eye contact with Yui, who is hiding by the door, petrified, and I know what I have to do. I fly down to Carla and Shin, landing in front of them with determination. Miki: “Enough! If you promise to leave them alone, I will go with you.” Carla: “Alright.” He holds up his hand and the wolves stop attacking. They form a barrier between my brothers and I as I look back at them. Miki: “I’m sorry. I love you all.” Sakamakis: “Miki!” Carla and Shin take me to their castle.
